I used the 2014 TSB to re-align my shifter after I installed a set of poly bushings from ZIP.
That was over a year ago and it hasn't happened since.
(2016 Z51)
The same thing has happened to me a few times in my 2019 Z06, mostly right after start up or when the engine and transmission are still cold. I installed a MGW Short-Throw Shifter and although it works great, I’ve noticed that I really need to push it into first gear as there are times due to the short throw, it feels clicked-in or engaged, but it wasn’t. Since this awareness, it no longer happens so I chalked it up to user error. At least in my case.
I have a '16 M7 Z06 that would occasionally pop out of 1st and sometimes second when the trans was cold. It only seemed to happen during the first couple of shifts while going through my neighborhood. After I installed the MGW I haven't had any issues and the temps have been much colder since the install. It's likely more from the alignment process that was performed when doing the install than the shifter itself, but I'm happy the issue is gone.

Thanks. I had the performance shop install the shifter at the same time I had the Borla X-pipe installed. Is there a process where I can check the alignment without removing the shifter?

Not to my knowledge. When I did the install MGW included an alignment tool to be used when mounting the lower box. You can't use the alignment tool w/o removing the shifter.
