Forward facing camera?

Forward facing camera?
Our 2015 Z51 has the Performance Data Recorder. Does that mean it also has a forward-facing camera? If so, how is it activated? I haven't found any info in the owner's manual about it. I do see that PDR needs an installed SIM card to record. Does it also need that installed card for the camera to work?

Yes, the flash card (not a SIM, that is a phone) in the glove box must be loaded for the PDR to work. The PDR system records the data on the flash card. You must activate it every time though. Although I think if you are in valet mode the system records from startup. I've never used valet mode.

I don't believe that card came with the car. Is that a GM only item, or might vendors (ZIP?) have something like that?

The forward facing curb cameras first became available on the 2016 model year cars with the upper trim levels.
