Default Infotainment Issue

I'm having issues with the infotainment system on my Grand Sport (2018) jumping around. Basically, it just takes off and does whatever. It jumps to settings, navigation, changes stations and simply goes haywire on its own. I took it to the dealer and all they did was a firmware upgrade which did absolutely nothing. They talked to me about other consecutive steps which included replacing a module, connector, screen. I'm not confident in their proposal and would appreciate any input to solve this annoying problem.

Can try and disconnect the battery and reconnect after 10-15 mins and see if that helps. Other than that, I'm sure others will chime in.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that before taking it to the dealer and didn't have any luck.

Welcome to the forum btw. I'm sure someone will chime in with some advice eventually. Could be a connection problem but I think it is a rather lengthy job to check that.

Thanks again. I'm thinking the same. It's kind of interesting as when I did have my iPhone connected it would randomly start calling some of my favorites; crazy. I don't think these occurrences are due to a hardware (module) failure or software bug; my best guess anyway.

And thank you for the Welcome! I couldn't help but notice your location. I've got some family down there in Charlottesville.

Oh nice. Yea that's about an hour and some change from me. I love that area. Me and a couple of my buddies ride out that way to run the Skyline everyone month or two.

It seems my previous note didn't flow through. I was thinking the same about a bad connection. I don't think it's a hardware or software bug.

If it is, that's definitely money saved checking yourself rather than taking it to a dealer imo.

Beautiful car. We've been thankful for a warm winter this year. Haven't had to put mine up or worry about swapping wheels lol.

Ha, feel fortunate. I'll keep watch for other comments and plan for some dash removal and connector checkout. The machine isn't going anywhere so maybe I'll thinker.

Have a great evening.

Please post updates if you find a fix to your problem with screen. I had to take one of our GM vehicles ( not our 17 GS ) in for very similar problem. This was for a Acadia , the screen for instrument cluster middle screen and infotainment screen were both going crazy like you described. They also did a firmware update and reboot. Service writer said they couldn’t get it to act up when there but was thinking previous update did load properly or something along those lines. What they did stopped crazy screen. 10 days later different problem started were you touch screen to change station new channel lights up but reverts back to old station. This time service writer saw it act up for him and I had a video on phone of problem . But wouldn’t act up for tech. There thinking was Sanitizer on fingers caused the problem with screen this time. They cleaned screen but said it didn’t look dirty and said let them know if it still happens or other problems appear .So I’m curious on how things work out for you even thought it’s a different vehicle.
Just in case anyone is wondering hands were not on arrow / tabs on steering wheel or tabs for changing radio stations. Only been two days sense at dealer last so far so good.

Long shot but did you try using all the steering wheel controls just to make sure it isn't a problem associated with one of them?

I say HMI module, made by boch. Seems like a lot of people have issues with it including me I need to order one, the radio stations goes blank and my mp3 jack player is no longer recognized. 2400$ -1250$ core charge. I bet it's the same HMI junk as in the Lambo Huracan.

I'll keep you posted if I find anything abnormal. However, knowing I will not be taking the car out of the garage until the spring, I won't know 100% if anything got fixed.

Thank you I will post anything that goes on regards to fixes on our vehicle in case it could help you out.

Grand Slam , I did test each of the steering wheel controls before I took vehicle into dealer. Just to make sure no sticking or other problem with controls. Thanks for suggestion.

Try to make sure the connections on the module in the drivers kick panel are tight they work loose sometimes and cause all kinds of problems. There are many threads on this.

I spoke with the folks at Infotainment.com and will be sending them the IO6 module. It was a bit difficult to remove but it's out. According to the rep, they've heard of similar issues that I described, called it ghost screens. Once they get my module its supposedly takes 3-4wks to repair and return; hopefully that resolves the issue. I'll report out after it's return, installed and tested.
