Not sure which manufacturer would be involved in the breaking pucks, but I have been using the same BMW jacking pucks for better than ten years covering my C5s and now my C7. No problems at all with them cracking/breaking.
Besides the plastic ones, you can get a set of aluminum ones that securely mount on the car.
I bought these a couple years back . They work great and dealer tech even made comment on how nice they were constructed.
Puck on my 17 GS !
Those are nice. Strongly considering a set for my car, as I jack it up a lot for various things.
I made a plywood disc that sits in the center of the jack's cup, to get a little more bite on the pucks. Those lines are from the pinch seam of a previous car.
^^ I'm very happy with these pucks. I check every spring when car comes out of storage to check that bolts are tight and I have never had to retighten.
If you are using the cheap plastic ones, they can definitely break. If you get yourself some of the ACS or other aluminum ones, you shouldn't have any issues. Also, if you plan on permanently leaving them, I would add a little bit of blue loctite before installing, just for safe measures.
