Timing Light?
Late last summer I bought an Innova 3568 timing light to use on our C3. That car is now sold, leaving me with two questions:
1. Will that light function on our 2015 Z51?
2. Is there any reason I'd even want to consider adjusting or otherwise messing with the timing on the C7?
TIA,
Larry

I wouldn't. There's a lot to be said for 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

So, where would the carb [ edit: distributor is the correct item] be that you need to turn to adjust the timing be located on our cars? Timing is set in a "table" in the ECM. Your timing light would make a great paper weight or in a trophy case as a relic?
HNY!

I always thought that you turned the distributor to change timing

Traditionally you do, however kinda to eboggs point, C7 has a coil pack.

haven't used any of my three timing lights since I sold my 73 Vette in 2009. Don't miss using them. I'll let the ECM take care of the timing and all the other functions related to the engine. No plans on doing a 'tune' on any of my vehicles.

this is the statement I was referring to
"So, where would the carb be that you need to turn to adjust the timing be located on our cars?"
I kind of figured he meant distributor instead of carb. no big deal all good.

Thankfully the newer vehicles do not have a need to use a timing light - as with many things computers take over and run the show.

Yep, distributors and carburetors, fine tuning timing, adjusting carbs, points etc things of the past. That's one reason I like the C2s so much, is you can still play around with them.

Timing guns. Oh the memories. My first car was a 79 New Yorker. I fiddled with the timing always, never did get it right. POS Chrysler Electronic Spark Control. Luckily moved to mid 80's GM cars after with fuel injection and didn't need that god awful timing gun much anymore. A whole new set of issues with mid 80s GMs, but hey, no more timing guns

I still have these in the bottom drawer of my tool box, I wonder if I will ever use them again?
