Default Transporting a bike

Just got this Seasucker roof rack. Suction cups hold the rack to the car. Highly recommend!

I get the practicality but I would be checking my rearview mirror CONSTANTLY to see if it's in the road behind me (I'm a bit of a worrier). Maybe a Go-Pro or such to monitor & as other poster said, don't forget it's up there since that is a serious height increase!

I'm an avid biker, and that's pretty cool, but won't be transporting my bikes that way. Would only take one mishap to possibly kill someone driving behind you.

Enjoy those scratches the suction cups will put in the painted top. I have seen several people forget about the bike and then drive into the garage and rip the bike off of the rack.

For the convertible C7s, I'm certain that a rack would be available from a vendor that attaches to the trunk lid.👍

The car is so low I can drive right into my garage and still clear the door by a good foot or more. Top is not painted, but clear. I'm not worried at all. Design is good. Worked for years on my Lexus.

Did someone mention bikes? Luckily I have a truck but most rides right from the house and on quiet roads within 3-4 miles. Wife and I have a pretty good collection of noteworthy bikes, the blue Trek helped Lance Win the ‘99 TdF, with his climber Kevin Livingston on board.

Like some of the others, I would be so worried about putting a bike on top of my C7, but sounds like you have a lot of experience with that particular bike carrier and have confidence that it stays in place.

Definitely a <potential> problem with being on the roof of a C7 hatchback. Garage impact, and body panel <potential> damage.

A C7 convertible? Not nearly the hatchback <potential> problems.

meh...one person out of thousands... sounds like user error to me. It would be like telling everyone not to buy a C7 because some experience torque converter issues.

Difference being a torque converter issue doesn't put anyone at risk of being killed from an airborne bicycle coming through their windshield.

I call FUD!! Proof that drivers are at risk of death due to SeaSucker rack failures.

Seems you are 100% sure that a bike mounted on top of a moving vehicle with suction cups and velcro is 100% safe, and that's is fine with me.
