Even though first year of the C7, the 2014 is arguably the most trouble-free of the six year model run. If I get another, it will be a very low mileage and immaculate 2014.
Consumer Reports gave the 2014 the best score for reliability of all C7s.
The 2014 model year is a pretty reliable, go get it
It has known frequently reported issues. Best bet is the 2019 of the series.

Not necessarily. I'd argue that the 2017 is more trouble free than the 2014.
Get the GMVIS report on the car from a Chevrolet or GM dealer.
Am I understanding correctly that the GMVIS will show only service and repairs at a GM dealer? If a repair was done at a local shop it would not be noted?

Correct.
You can/should also check Carfax too. Carmax uses a different service than Carfax though.

Sorry but both of your statements are just not true. 2014 has been documented in so many automotive magazines and talked about over and over on so many automotive shows, to be the most reliable year...actually I can't remember a time when anyone ever challenged that...except you.

So document away then, if my statements are so wrong?? You're saying the 2019s are lemons??
If given a choice I'd go for the C7 2019 EVERY TIME! Not sure what's so difficult to understand about that.

I agree with this point of view! In my experience with automobiles over the years the last run of a Generation tends to be most reliable since they've had time to work out most kinks. Admittedly not always the case...
Was there a fix on the last item that you listed re going into 4 cylinder mode?
I am looking at buying a 2014 Z51 and trying to look at all issues. Vehicle is at 45k miles
There is at least one issue that hits some owners. The 2014s have an issue where the cooling fan will stop functioning which will cause the car to overheat in traffic. The quick solution is to turn the engine off and back on and that usually starts the fan operating again. After that, it might be months before the fault occurs again. The permanent solution is to upgrade to the 2015 Z06 600-watt fan which is a GMPP performance part for the 2014 cars.

Bill
Does the 2014 Z51 come with the better fan? If not that will be a future upgrade for my car.
Yes I did that but I have been told over and over to come to this site for more info than posted in Google or other social media.
Thank you for your response.
"8 out of 10 Americans want Apple CarPlay in their next car."
(Only consider 2016's or newer.)
Many thanks,
Ray
I would assume 8 out of 10 want Apple Carplay or Android Auto given 8 out of 10 Americans dont have iPhones. But your point is valid in terms of syncing the smart phone.
