Default Know issues?

I’m thinking about getting a 2014 Z51 M7. Are their any known issues I should look for or be concerned about?

I'm just gonna throw this out here because someone is inevitably going to, so why not me?

Have you tried searching this forum for answers to that question? I'm really not trying to come across snarky, but here's the thing. You have 8 years of information about the 2014 Z51 literally at your fingertips.

If you went to Google and typed in : 2014 C7 Corvette Z51 issues corvette forum (make sure to add the corvette forum part!)
You will get numerous threads on that very subject. You are not the only one who has asked this question over the years. Try the search. If you have specific questions after researching, ask away.
This forum is great with so many helpful people.

Even though first year of the C7, the 2014 is arguably the most trouble-free of the six year model run. If I get another, it will be a very low mileage and immaculate 2014.

As stated, the 2014 has proven to be a very reliable car (I may be biased since I have a '14). Some owners, me included, exxperienced problems with the infotainment system - I had to have the screen replaced, but other than that, not one problem. The 2014 does not have tech stuff like the PDR, front cameras, etc., but it is still a great car.

Since you give no background on the car, do you have any? That is the most important issue, as far as I'm concerned. How many owners? How was it maintained? Damage? Miles? Etc., etc. If not this one, there are others. All the best.

I have heard the shifting is a little notchy when car is still warming up, from the searching I have done. The vehicle I’m looking at is a one owner with 15,500 miles on it and clean carfax. I just wanted some opinions from actual owners. Thanks

Check the info screen. Some were flaky. Check for a roof rattle. Drive it over a semi-bumpy road.

Well I will contribute my experience... I have a 2019 GS that I purchased in December 2020 with only 1624 miles on the clock. All good until 7 months or so in, it starting to show transmission fluid spotting on garage floor. Short version, GM coughed up a new 7-speed tranny covered under BTB warranty. I still love this car and it's still my daily driver... YMMV. Good luck.

I own a 2014 with Z51, 3LT. Although mine has the A6, it has been an absolutely trouble free car.

I just recently heard of possible issues with rockers due to AFM system. I suppose you would need higher mileage before you could have any issues with them? Sounds like a good choice for a C7.

The most common 2014 issues I've seen reported around here:
  • bad fan relays
  • infotainment screen glitches
  • belt tensioner leak
  • Z51 brake rotors warp
  • 3LT dash bubbles (effects other years too)
  • difficult to close hatch (power pull down added in later years)
My 2014 Z51 3LT has been trouble free for the 3 years I've owned it with 38k on the clock now. Just a few cosmetic issues. I had the brake rotor problem but also track the car so no way the stock units were going to last very long anyway. My infotainment screen glitched out but thankfully it was just a lose connector. I had some odd small parts failures, all so simple I fixed them in my driveway for under $100. The most expensive thing has been an LED clearance light that died and so I replaced it with Oracle aftermarket units.

Many report shifting into 2nd can be notchy when cold, but for me its 1st and R that tend to hang up slightly.

The AFM issues are on the automatics as they go into 4 cylinder mode all the time, the manuals only do that if you put the car into Eco mode.

I owned a 2014 Z51 M7. Fantastic car - basically trouble free. But there was one issue where they would overheat. The root cause was the fan not coming on or remaining on long enough. To resolve, you replace the stock fan with a Z06 fan and never had a problem again.

With the M7 - make sure you do the RANGER METHOD - here is a video how to do it - its super easy.

You can't go wrong. Manual and Z51 are an amazing pair, and the C7 in general is a really great car.
