Default tpms

i have a 2014 premiere edition that has just started its 9th year in service. i will be needing tires soon so i think that would be a good time to replace the sensors. they still work but are going on 9 years old. according to GMparts direct the part number is 13598775. is that the correct and is there any place to get them that is cheaper than GM parts direct? they want $40 each. any info appreciated. thx

I just replaced the original tires on my 2014 with all seasons at Costco. I chose to replace the TPMS at this time as well. They ran $45 each installed.

I don't know what the standard TPMS sensor life is but I had the original TPMS sensors on my C5 for 18 years and they were still working when I sold it.

everything i’ve read is they last 6-8 yrs on average. sometimes a bit longer. 18yrs? that’s amazing! since the c7 has only been around for a little over 8yrs.

Cheaper than the C5 I used to have. 40 bucks sounds reasonable.

$40 is not a bad price - I remember the early C5 sensors were at least double that.

Oops. I meant to refer to my C5 which had the original TPMS for 18 years.

according to the ac delco site, c7 tpms is made by schrader. schrader part number 20223 is identical to gm part number 13581560. it’s the same part. rock auto sells the part under the schrader name for $21. ac delco sells the same part for much more.

My local Costco won't touch a Corvette.

I did replace the 8 year old ones in my wife's car (Discount Tire.) 3 of them were replaced under warranty in less then a year. Then a few months later, all 4 were replaced as 2 more of the cheap junk they were using died again. An email to Discount Tire Corporate office and they agreed to replace all for free. They did get smart and no longer use the "other" brand. It's a been about 2 years and no issues.

They don't last forever.. So changing out after 4-6 years is probably a good idea. Maybe someone with more info can chime in and tell us the life expectancy of TPMS.

If by chance you are also considering wheels, Tire Rack will mount/balance tires, install new sensors and ship to you. I don't know the specifics of the various sensor part numbers but they did a great job for me 2 years ago when I wanted to get away from the noisy stiff riding runflats. I was surprised that it wasn't until I pulled back into the garage after my first road test that I had never even seen a warning light. I autocross on the OE runflats so switch tires wheels about twice per month and the tpms system never has a problem.

thx for the info. i have a really good tire place by me. when i do get new tires, they won’t be runflats. during the colder months, they literally jump on tight turns. feels and sounds like the front of the car is falling apart. they don’t properly track at all. GM says it’s fine and won’t hurt anything but it certainly doesn’t feel or sound that way. the side walls are way too stiff for the cars suspension. at least they are for the z51 suspension. just trying to save a couple bucks on new sensors.
