My car is a 2016 and it has Apple play but not Android Auto. I understand that there was an upgrade available back then to add Android Auto. Does anyone know if it is still available? I would like to use my Android phone in my C7 as I do on my other vehicles.

 

Here's the service bulletin about adding Android Auto to 2016s. Any GM dealer should be able to add the software. It was a free update at the time, don't know what it would cost today.

Take the bulletin with you to the dealer or give them the number 16-na-042.

You can't get it on a 2014?

 

Apple Carplay came out on the 2016 models, Android Auto later in the 2016 MY and can be added to early 2016s.

2014 / 2015 just connect over bluetooth as an audio source. All controls stay on the phone - although Pandora is an app on the car and Pandora controls work on the HMI.

If you want to replace several modules I think you can add on 2014 / 2015. Others have done it.

i just had mine done. Its a 2016 Z06. I think they charged me $130. I love it. Waze is worth the whole thing.

You don't on a 2014 / 2015... Carplay and Android Auto became available for the 2016 model year.

Thanks, I will call a dealer next week. I wish I had gotten it done back in the day, but paying 150+- will be well worth it now.

 

Update: I was able to bring my car to a dealer and get this update for about $100.00. It works like a charm. Due to this upgrade, I was able to cancel OnStar (we were using it for turn by turn navigation,) and XM radio. I now just use my Android phone for Spotify (the free version) and Google maps for navigation.

Congrats on the upgrade.I would look into waze for a warning ahead of LEO'S and up to the minute of finding a shorter way around for a crash or traffic .
Another bonus,If your speeding?Who speeds in a Corvette? Never, but in case it accidentally happens.It shows there location and for others you report if still there or moved on.
It is free and only as good as others reporting.A simple download to your phone.
Can you select specific songs and select favorites on Spotify?
Pandora is a charge but very reasonable and no cutting out on the good parts of the songs. Sirius was useless in my area.

 

Yes you can select song and create playlists, The free version includes a commercial about every 10 songs or so, but they are short. Sometimes it will automatically play songs that are similar in style to your playlist. If a song or album pops in my head, I can just say "play ___ on Spotify" and it will play. Almost any song that I like is available, and even some of the old dramatic radio shows. Of course I listen to a lot of classic songs so I am not sure about the availability of contemporary pop and rock music. I also listen to some local sports podcasts on Spotify.

I resisted the new phone integrated technology for a long time but when we bought our new DD (2022 Toyota Rav4) it came equipped with Android Auto. The salesman demonstrated how to use it with our phones and it was very simple. After I saw how easy it was, I bought a new "Boss" audio system for my 2014 F150 pickup so I could use Android Auto and have a backup camera. then I started thinking about the Vette. I did some research and found the update but I did not know if it was still available. Thanks to the forum, I found out I could still get it, albeit no longer free. It was still a great bargain for the 100 bucks I spent.
