Looking for some help here. I've tried searching but haven't had much luck. Lately, sometimes when I turn off my 2016 weird things happen such as,
- The driver door window doesn't index down and it will hit the door frame when closing the door after getting out of the car. The Passenger door has not done this.
- The head unit and digital instrument cluster stay on even after exiting the car and closing the door.
- The door doesn't open with the door button unless I hit the unlock button.
These things don't happen every time, and they don't always occur together.
If any of you have experienced this and found a solution, I would love to hear about it.
Is this something that just started or something that is becoming more frequent. How old is your battery and do you keep it on a tender?
It just started in the last few months and seems to be happening more frequently. The battery is about 2.5 years old. I drive the car 1-2 days per week and don't usually put a tender on it. The battery has no problem starting the car. There was a time where it sat for maybe 3 or 4 weeks and the battery died. I charged it up completely and it has been fine starting the car since. But, the gremlins never happened before that time. Maybe I should just replace the battery and see what happens.
I have no experience with those issues, but the one thought I have is it looks like those issues have in common the switch or sensor that tells the BCM whether the door is closed or open, and it appears as that sensor/switch is always indicating the door is closed, even if it actually isn't.
The driver's side door window more than likely needs to be indexed. With the ignition on, run the window all the way down and hold the button for a few seconds in the down position then run the window all the way up and hold the button in the up position for a few seconds. Then shut off the car, open the door and see if the window indexes properly. A dead battery can make the windows lose their index positions.
My IP and center dash display stay on when I close the door. Sometimes they stay on long enough that I think they aren't going to shut off but they do eventually shut off. My car has been doing that since I purchased it 6.5 years ago.
As for the remote access passive unlocking make sure the key fob battery is good.
One thing I learned a long time ago with my C6Z. To be sure things are properly turned off, start the engine and then turn it off, and don't touch the button again.
In my experience with car batteries, if it goes dead and is revived, I use it as long as I need to get to the store and replace it with a new battery. Probably just me but I don't trust a battery that has gone dead.
I agree with Bill, the dash does not go off after you turn off the car. It will stay on and look pretty for a short time and then goes off. The max ANY light or electronics device will function is 10 minutes and then the RAP (See owner's manual) goes off and the car shuts down. Try listening to your radio in your car after you turn off the car. 10 minutes later, the radio turns off. If you open the door, the RPA turns off immediately and the radio goes off.
I re-indexed the drivers side window. That didn't make any difference.
I then replaced the battery and re-indexed the windows. That didn't make any difference.
Put the new battery on a charger to make sure it was fully charged. That didn't make any difference.
The car still has all the symptoms I mentioned in my first post.
