While the VIN will lead to the build date information it is not encoded in the number. It can be accessed by any GM dealership. They will need to enter the VIN in to the GM VIS (vehicle information system). The VIS printout will give you the build date, the warranty in service date, a list of all the options on the car and a list of any and all warranty repair work that has been done to the car. The decal on the drivers door contains the month and year that the car was built but does not offer the day. You can order a copy of your build sheet from the Corvette museum which has all the detailed information on it. I hope this helps.
You can also send email with Vin to socialmedia@gm.com
They will send a PDF Build Sheet that has build date and all the RPO Codes for equipment and options in your model.
They responded the same day I sent the email.
All done from the comfort of home and no cost!
