Car (2016 Z51 vert) died when I got to work. No power at all! Figured it was the battery so had wifey pick up a new die hard. Got it installed and when neg cable is connected trunk, tail and side lights come on. Now the problem...
the dors will not open and when I try to start it all I get is a ding, ding, ding. Windows will work, but rest of interior is dark
can someone please call me and maybe help ne get this fixed? My number is 404 915-3587. Please help. I don't even know how I can get it towed as it won't shift to neutral.
Check all nuts are tight where the cables attach to the power block.
I agree!
Everything must be aligned like it came from the factory. The nuts need to be good and tight. Confirm that the little black wire on the negative post is still there and attached.
Yall are right on point. got it started, battery at 14.5V according to the dash readout. Just on little quirk, the trunk will not stay latched. if i push it down, it will pull as if latching, but will then release. I've tried closing it multiple times with no luck. could it be a fuse?
For future reference, add: cable connectors need to be clean and not corroded, as well... plus, a known good battery in the FOB with all buttons, clean, free, and easily functional. Sounds like you're nearly good to go!
14.5 V is the charging voltage with the engine running. A fully charged battery should be at or above 12.6 V.
If you disconnected the two flat bus bars on top of the battery, they need to be in good contact and flat to each other before tightening the bolt back.
If still a problem, check voltage downstream of each fuse on top of the battery. You may have managed to blow one. The good news is that there is a spare 100 amp fuse. Since the car starts you did not blow the 350 amp fuse.
