For a stock C7 GS with A8, page 191 of the owners manual gives you the maximum speed allowed for down shifting. These speed numbers can be used as the speed at or before which you should up shift;
1-2: 39mph
2-3: 62 mph
3-4: 93 mph
4-5: 100 mph
5-6: 133 mph
6-7: 169 mph
7-8: 199 mph

This is for a stock GS, not modified. The upshift at these speeds would be just before 6600rpm.

However, as you have indicated, your car is modified and has an engine/trans tune. Which mean the tuner could have changed the shift points. If your car had the tune when you got the car, then only the original tuner (maybe the original owner) would know the shift points set by the tune. You may get a better response if you post this question in the Tech/Performance section though.

I know this is from the owner manual, and I'm sure the Z06 is different, but those seems a little off, no? Only 7 mph difference on 3rd/4th? Also 7th and 8th should be overdrive gears so I'd imagine those speeds would be much higher.

Hi Jason,
You are correct about the max on 4th gear, I have seen 111 at the shift to fifth, but that is about the max. Any more and I hit the limiter. Those two gears are very close since the revs only go down to about 5400rpm at the 3-4 shift. 1, 2, and 3 are pretty much dead on, but I think the other gears have a little more to give going up than when going down. So 7th maybe capable of passing 200. The GB is the same as that on the Z06, final drive is 2.73 for the A8 cars, so what you see on the Z with A8 for top numbers should be the same as what we see on the GS, except you maybe able to see more of 7th and 8th before aero cancels out available power.
