I can't remember but I thought there were more differences than just AA. I can't seem to find that page anymore but I believe there was more than just AA. I'll keep looking.

Android Auto Stream the phone to the NAV screen
electronic Limited Slip Differential (old term positraction)

I have the 14.

I installed Navtool for ~400 and got a front camera that displays on the Nav screen.
I upgraded to a 2017 radio and have SMS. AA, and CP.
I have a Blackview sitting up where the PDR camera looks out and it records the traffic and such everytime I start the car.

I have a '14 with pretty much all the missing things that the later models came out with.

What was the total cost to make these mods? I've seen your very involved tutorials, but didn't pick on cost for parts. And, the sources would also be appreciated. Of course I'm being selfless and asking for the OP...

Well, the NAVTOOL was around $400, The upgraded radio was ~$1500, The blackview camera was ~$400. I did them; but not all at once. Navtool was first in 2016, I wanted that front camera bad. The front camera is pretty close to the way the later front cameras work, slick as hell. Blackview to cover my *** in driving incidents by idiot drivers or people trying to scam a wreck with a brake check, stuff like that. The PDR has to be turned on everytime you start the car whereas my Blackview automatically starts to record at startup. The radio upgrade was last probably 2 years ago.

I noticed that you mentioned that you. used a 2017 radio once... somewhere... was that to achieve something specific or just a coincidence. Did you also use a 2017 HMI (asking for the same reason)? Did you go through MVI or another vendor?

The 2017 radio gave me AA, SMS, and Apple CarPlay. Navtool had some of that but Navtool was targeted for the front camera function.

For clarity, would a 2016 radio with those features not transfer to the 2014, noting that I have a 2014 too.

Probably. When I did the upgrade, I got the highest/latest year I could get at the time. That was the 2017.

Isn't exploding drive shaft rubber coupling a known issue?
