Hello everyone, I am new to the group and new to Corvettes. Mostly have owned Porsches and currently have a 2022 Cayman GTS 4.0, which I am selling. Looking to get into a 2019 GS, hopefully but ran across a pristine 2014 Stingray with Z51 package that I really like. I'm concerned that this was the first year of the C7 cars and wondering if there are any known problems with this model year? Can anyone share if they own or have owned this year and if there are any problems or concerns for me to know about? Thank you!
In summary...the 2014 is just as (or more) reliable in some ways (tranny). It is missing some modern features (front camera, AA/Carplay, power trunk latch...). You really should search those threads to get all the deets.
There were a few minor recalls - gas tank filler pipe, seatbelt software, and to inspect differential oil level. These did not apply to all 2014s, just for selected VIN.
You should check recall status just to make sure that all have been completed.
The only other thing is that there was a software update for seat memory for manual transmission cars. Not a recall, just a service bulletin that you had to ask for: Document #3829627 / PI1245.
I had a 14 I bought brand new and owned until 19. Was a great car. Only complaint is it didn't have front cameras and car play. It was a manual. Other than that it is pretty much the same car as a 19 honestly. If it were me I would buy the 19, just to have the last year of the C7.
2014 is a great car but you miss out on tech stuff. Your Onstar will stop working in Dec. There are problems I see that pop up on this forum that I've been told to worry about as a 2019 owner. Flat bottom steering wheels, front cameras, PDR, truck release and other things weren't available until later models. If those things matter to you, get a newer model. If not, the 2014 is a great choice.
I own a 2014 with Z51. I have had no problems. Everything I have read about the 14's is that they are some of the most reliable C7's.
I would like to emphasize that not only is the '14 one of the most trouble free C7's but one of the if not the most reliable first year release of any American car.....quite noteworthy......
I moved into my C7 after 24 years with my C5. A very big upgrade!! I do wish I had CarPlay and it can be added for around $1000 but I get around that with a nice phone mount. We've had it a year now, got it with <5k on it and now almost 13K. Ride is great and the car is actually pretty quite even with the original run flats. Not one problem except still having a hard time handling the extra 100HP. Last week had her sideways on a 1-2 shift at 6000rpm with traction and all turned off.
Oh and 30+mpg on a 600 mile trip last week with cruise set at 78 most of the time but some spurts to 95 on the Garden State
No cameras either. I'd pass on a 14. I didn't look at anything under 16 when I was shopping
'14 has HD radio which later years did not have until it came back I think in '18/'19. Cameras?...do you mean PDR? I have no need for that as anyone truly looking for useful data to go faster on track/autocross will opt for better telemetry options (trackaddict/solostorm/harrys + 10Hz GPS gopros)

I don't think it had front cameras which is handy for parking. I believe the last lot of tech goodies came in 16 which is why I didn't consider anything under 16. I think HUD also came out. I will never use the navigation but I definitely use the Android Auto. I can't find it but there was a list of what changed from year to year. 17 came out with Mag Ride and eLSD.
i bought a 2014 M7 Stingray convertible 18 months ago. it had 34k miles on it when i purchased. i drove it home, 1700+ miles, with no problems. I have put on another 10k since then. absolutely no problems. I have upgraded to Apple Carplay for $1000, had no screen issues. I have upgraded to Z51 shocks and sway bars. i don't have the cameras, i do not miss them. i have been up to 130 mph. I have gotten 37 mph at a cruise controlled 75 mph. I say buy a 2014 and enjoy it.

eLSD was available on all years, only Z51, GS, or Z06. Magride and HUD was available all years too. I have a '14 with magride, HUD, and eLSD (Z51). The later year changes are miniscule. If you really need AA this can be added.
Original owner of a 2014 3LT 7M convertible. Very reliable. My only issue was the center screen going black. Got a new HMI module and screen. Turns out the problem was an intermittent connection with the HMI unit, This causes the radio to cut out and the clock disappears among other things. There have been no issues at all other than that. Like virtually every car around that time it had an airbag recall, plus the filler neck screen. You also get the SD card slot in the center console, rewindable radio (awesome if you need to rewind a traffic report), and HD radio...i believe all of these items were beancounted out in subsequent years...you do lose the camera tech...I really would love to have the PDR to use as a dashcam but I'm ok w/o the other cameras. This is up to you to decide, but I would not be concerned with reliability.
