It will mount up, but the GS wheel/tire will stick out beyond the wheel opening on your Stingray. So basically, it will not fit properly.
The GS wheel is wider with a lower offset than the Stingray wheel. Additionally, the GS quarter panels are wider to allow for the wider wheel.
thanks.... thought that was the case. Have had c4 and c6 GrandSport and I like the traction so it seems the solution is the conversion kit listed elsewhere here on the forum. Thanks again!

Bear in mind that you can still fit wider and stickier tires on the back of a C7 Stingray, though you'll need correctly sized wheels.
Keep in mind that putting on wider tires doesn't necessarily mean more traction. Unless you're driving on 70°F sunny days only, you'll see some downsides over the 245/285 setup.
Fortunately, NO... as stated. And, that's a good thing since the wide-body (GS & Z06) OEM wheels are cheap junk--check the cracked and bent wheel thread that's always on the front page here.

Short wide tires are good for lateral traction and car shows, but tall narrow tires work better for forward traction. It's all about the footprint. Pick your poison.
