Highway speed !! Deer meets Corvette. Not good. Air bag in my face. Entire front clip destroyed. A/C condenser Radiator damaged. Fiberglass and deer hair everywhere.
Under & Over damage.
6000 miles on my 2017 GS !!!
Never experienced an air bag deployment before. Very interesting.
Foot was on the gas, didn't even see him coming. Probably saved my neck that I didn't brake.

Sorry to hear about the accident - damn deer are really bad this time of year. Any thoughts on whether the car will be totaled? Best of luck with either the repair or replacement.
What a horrible experience! I am glad you are Okay 👍
I was coming back from a day in the Santa Barbara Hills, going slowly because of the fog, when I came around a curve and saw this guy!
man sorry about the car! but as im sure others will say the best thing is sounds like you are safe and no ones hurt except i guess for the deer. it sucks because they do just pop out sometimes I see deer on the road quite a bit now on my commute some on the sides alive and out of the way in the distance and others in the road smashed to pieces...
I'm lucky I didn't see him coming. Otherwise, I would have braked hard, and the CCB's would have put me through the windshield. Fiberglass all over the highway.
Obviously upset over my Z07, because I had it aligned perfectly.
You may not have to deal with that if it's totalled. I'd wait and see how it shakes out. Doesn't take much to total one of these. Got any pics? Glad you're ok. That's what really matters. I live in the land of deer. Gotta really keep your eyes open and brights on at night. Also keep my speed down on rural roads where I live. I have avoided many by doing this. But sometimes it's impossible to miss. And you're right, don't steer or brake. Straight ahead.
Like you said....its a good thing you didnt see it. Not saying you would have done this but many drivers try to emergency steer around wildlife and can go off the road into a tree. Let us know how the repair goes.
Sorry to hear about your experience. Several years ago I bought a brand new Honda Accord. Two weeks later, my wife was driving it and hit a deer. It happens.
I doubt you will see a diminished value payment for what is an act of God. I was luckier than you when I hit a deer with my 86 Corvette at 65 mph (Cruise control was set). Its feet went under the front fascia while its body flopped down on the hood, tore out the passenger side headlight, slid up the hood and windshield, bounced on the transparent roof over my wife's head, and disappeared. It sailed over the Corvette behind me and landed in a swamp. This was before cell phones so we got out and checked the car over and then I drove it home with the other Corvette following me because my taillights and side marker lights didn't work due to a blown fuse.
Make sure you have the insurance appraiser check the paint for deer urine. When the deer went over my car it sprayed urine drops all over the car. Even though I washed the car after the appraiser saw it a few days later that urine caused problems. About a year after the car was repaired all of the spots where the deer urine rested on the paint started peeling off and I had to have a total repaint to correct the problem.

Some truth in this Glad you are ok, good luck on the repairs / totaling & getting another!
Interesting. The seat belt tensioners tighten down on impact, and literally attempt to rip out of the mountings. This is on the passenger side with no passenger. So there is seat damage as well.
$20K damage from a deer. and a nasty car fax report.
Friend of mine driving a 1974 Hit a horse BAd BAD He kept that car had it rebuilt and drove it until he was 89 he passed last Christmas Corvette still going
Insurance is really funny about hitting a deer You must say "I hit a deer" not "I THINK I HIT A DEER" I've known that happening and the deer gets up brushes itself off and runs away.

It's obvious with the amount of deer hair all over the bumper, grill, air cleaner.
