Calling on the past/current car sales people.
My question actually applies to all vehicles sold in the US but I'll just stick with Corvette's for obvious reasons. I'm the 3rd owner of my 17 GS and I thought I found the original dealer that sold my car to the original owner. According to my build sheet, it's stating that the car was originally shipped from Bowling Green to a well known auto auction here in PA (Manheim Auto Auction-Hatfield PA location). My window sticker is not original so it does not have the dealer info on it.
So am I to believe that vehicle manufacturer's will actually ship some of their vehicles to auto auctions right from factory and then the dealers will come in a bid on them and buy them for their inventory? I've just always been under the impression that every vehicle that rolls off the assembly line goes directly to a dealer as a special order customer vehicle or for dealer inventory.
I am the third owner of my 2015 and I order my build sheet and window sticker from the NCM and it shows the dealer it was shipped to, and it matches the CarFax. Maybe they order it through a dealer and had it shipped to their location. It does seem strange that the factory would ship a new car to a location other than a Chevrolet dealership.

Years ago I purchased a 2013 GS coupe years ago. It was S/Nxxxxxx00011.
It came from an auction. Turns out it was a preproduction car.
The same dealer had a 2013 coupe s/nxxxx00004.
They were still under the original MSO and listed as Warren Mich. delivery.
What is the s/n of your car??
When you say build sheet, are you talking about the one that looks like this, or something else?
We know GM auctions off corporate cars when they're done with them, but the original delivery would have been to GM corporate rather than the auction.
Yes that's what I'm calling the build sheet. You might have answered my question. Here's what the CHG Code (not sure what that is) and the ship code look like on mine.
Hatfield Auto Auction is now owned by Manhiem Auto Auction.
That's what I expected. It's not a pre-production VIN, but they may have just ordered it up for display use or something. I ran your VIN and it's got RPO R7V. It's a control code for special uses, like show cars.
The charge code just means it was ordered by and billed to GM corporate. It's weird that it was shipped straight to an auction. Maybe it was sold for some kind of charity event?

Now the idea that it was sold as a charity event car makes sense seeing it was shipped to the Auction. Much like the special cars that turn up at Barrett-Jackson.

sorry Barret-jackson and Mannheim are 2 totally different auctions. Mannheim is the auction house that dealers send all the cars they dont want on their lot to to sell . this could include rebuilt title cars, high mileage cars and also cars like a Chevrolet traded in to a Ferrari dealer. they dont want the chevy on there lot so off to Mannheim it goes. I think Mannheim was just bought out by carvana

Thanks for this info I really appreciate it! Now I'm even more curious as to how this car was used prior to the first owner buying it.
