A bulb went out and it's a big job, poor design. Book calls for 3 hours!!! and the youtube showed it. I'll have to drop it off for tech to do it.

It is a PITA that things like a simple bulb change requires disassembly of the front of the car.

Not just a Vette thing. Noticed my Dad's CTS Coupe had a burned out DRL the other day. Just the DRL. I was going to pick up a bulb and swap it out for him until I saw the replacement directions began with removing the entire front bumper.

I recently did it. Not a bad job. Fairly easy but time consuming. Do both bulbs. I went with brighter bulbs.

Had my bulbs replaced about a month ago. $450 labor. I bought the bulbs myself. About $100 each. Oh well. Easy come easy go. I'm not mechanical so didn't bother trying it myself. Part number on the bulbs is

GM Genuine Parts 13587843 Headlamp Bulb

Buy bulbs from ebay or Amazon, one tenth the price of GM parts direct.

The C6 had a flap inside the wheel well to reach the bulbs. Why would they change that???

Osram Xenarc Nightbreaker laser D3S HID lamps, supposedly 2X brighter than a standard HID, and they have a "normal" color temperature (4350K)
The trade-off is a shorter life. They are about $105 each.

Osram D3S Night Breaker Laser +200% HID Xenon Bulbs 4350K 66340XNL | P – HID CONCEPT

Osram is one of the big 3 OEM manufacturers who make quality HID lamps. (Philips, Osram/Sylvania, Harison)Attached Images

GM / AC Delco does not make the HID bulbs, they are typically made by Philips or Osram. But they come in a nice GM box

If they are 2x brighter, are they still legal?

The website says they bear the DOT stamp and are DOT compliant.
