Ok, you've seen me post a couple of times on here and occasionally, I can guess an answer to really easy questions so bear with me a tad.
My Navtool front camera system started to give me issues. The front camera was coming on properly but occasionally the darn video was reversed so that it acted as a rearview camera. I talked with Navtool and he said, nope, nothing in our system would flop the video around and it must be the camera. Well crap, ordered a new camera $30. Was scoping out what I had to do to replace the camera and it looked ugly for this old man. When the camera was installed, there were 3 loops of wire that controlled front/back, color bar display and flip the video top to bottom but I had to cut the green loop to set the camera to "front" function.
OK, now is when it goes downhill and gets embarassing. As I looked at the 3 loops, the cut green loop sure looked like it wasn't cut. I wiggled it and it separated from touching the wire ends. Hmmmmmm. I pulled the ends firmly apart and went in and started the car. Turned on the front camera and my left was left and the right was right. Stupid me had not made sure the cut loop would not ooze back and touch the bare ends and make a circuit.
Wire cutter has now removed ANY possibility of those two ends getting together and making woopie in the engine bay and flipping my video around.
Lesson here? Cut the loop when appropriate and be sure it stays apart!
I now have a spare camera for the day when I really need a spare.
Here's the new camera's loops. Note: My front camera is aftermarket. THe OEM cameras do not have loops to cut. My camera is used with the Navtool aftermarket kit that allows streaming my iPhone to my Nav screen and displaying the front camera view on my Nav screen so I don't dork up my front splitter on a curb.

The funny part is Murphy's law had you accidentally cut the wires and hoped they magically made contact (like they did) that would never have happened. It's just because you didn't want them to make contact they did. You have to laugh at this stuff sometimes.
