Default Upgrade time??

Hey guys. I'm really torn right now. I've been getting the itch lately to upgrade but not sure if i should. I currently own a 2019 manual 1LT GS which i purchased new.

I was 5th on my local dealers C8 Z06 list but had to drop off once they asked for $50k over msrp when it was my turn to order.

The top 3 things I've been contemplating are....

1. Keep my car and do some small mods like exhaust and wheels to make it feel fresh and new again.

2. Find a low mileage 2019 Z06 that has more options which i figure will run me 30k plus my car if my figures are correct.

3. Order a new C8 stingray (probably get an early 24 according to a dealer i spoke with) optioned exactly how i want it for around 30k plus my car.

I have also thought about going the exotic route such as a final gen Gallardo or something else in the low 100s range but i fear the possible repair and maintenance costs on something like that.

I'm just trying to get some different perspectives and opinions. I know this is a C7 forum sobi know it will be biased to some degree. I will dissect through that.

Thanks guys!

Current car.

It is not update time!
You have a perfectly good C7 Now!
You gotta rethink the thing.
Buy some new wheels to satisfy your need to spend, spend, spend!
There’s those that would give their left one for a C7, for heaven sakes!

Well, how much do you love your M7? Does it matter to you to go to an auto? I'd refresh your car. You know it well. Another used C7 will be a mystery mechanically and you can easily make some killer mods to your current ride.

There is NO way I'd EVER throw money away, paying over MSRP. Moreover, the C8 does nothing for me on any level. I also think your concern regarding the cost of exotic ownership well-founded. In short, I'm heavily biased and I know it.

FWIW, I think you have a great car. Freshen it up or upgrade to a C7Z, if money is burning a hole in your pocket. If not, simply enjoy what you have! Good luck with your decision.

i suspect that your tastes and recent experience lean towards buying another car. Refreshing yours might work for the short term but the itch will not be extinguished. Save the money you'll lose on mods and look for a lightly used C7 Z06 or 2020 C8..........

I am not so sure I like the C8. I know it is in fact faster than a C7 but....I would look at a C7 Z06. You will need to be careful that you get a good car but I think there are ways to do that. As wacky as used car prices are now it seems that C8 prices are even worse as you already found out.

I would go for a C7 Z06, that will give you a whole new appreciation for the Corvette.

You have a great looking car right now and just refreshing it would be not only a great way to make it seem new, but also be a huge money saving way to go. If you just want a different car, find a nice low mileage C7 Z and enjoy the added HP. The C8 is a very nice car, but, you are looking at a long wait to get one in most cases or may find one in dealer stock at a rather large markup.

Everything you are considering you can't go wrong. What you have to do is sit down and close your eyes. Now ask yourself the following question. If I was could just have one therse cars, and I could select any of the the three mentioned cars, and I have to select one, which one would I choose? You now have your answer.

I just installed an A&A Supercharger, long tube headers, JMS Fuelmax and tune, 610 HP to the rear wheels, Do these mods and you will have a sleeper that stock Z06's can't compete with. Good Luck!

Aligns with how I'd respond precisely... but I need to add, I went the route Akcajunz did... installed a A&A kit and ARH LTHs to assuage the desire for more power... and I'm quite content where I am and suspect I will be for at least a few years.

Sounds like you're just a little bored with your (very nice) current car. Believe me, I know this feeling. From someone who's owned several Ferraris, ten(ish) Porsches (three currently), 20(ish) Corvettes (one currently)... I think that your M7 C7 Grand Sport is just perfect for a fun street (or with a little work) track/autocross car. Since you mentioned a C7 Z06/Z07 and now have a C7 convertible I can say that I thought the 650 HP was a thrill that faded because it is just too much power on the street. Eventually you'll realize that your luck just might run out. The Z06 is a blast on the track (if you like tire-spin and drifting plus have a generous tire sponsor) but easily outclassed by many lower-power better-balanced offerings - including your Grand Sport. Obviously just my opinion but also comes with LOTS of hands on experience. I do have a suggestion though: If you haven't tracked or auto-crossed your car you should really give it a try. Trust me your face will hurt from smiling and you'll want to improve your driving or your underwear will need changing. Either way, you'll realize that the last thing today's cars need is more power, instead just better driver skills. Best of luck to you!

Thanks for all the compliments and insight guys. I have to say im leaning towards just keeping mine until i find something else in my price range that i "have to have". The Z06 and C8 stingray are nice upgrades but not the C8 Z06 type of upgrade I was really looking for granted that was going to be allot more expensive even if i could get one for msrp.

Could be the most idiotic post I've ever seen.
Why is someone an A-HOLE for paying over MSRP, their $ their choice. Was just told the other day of someone who paid $50k over MSRP for a C8 Z06 to resell it for $90K over MSRP just two days later. There's some who have A LOT of $ and don't mind spending it for something they want.

You have a beautiful C7, however if you have an itch to upgrade I suggest getting on a C8 Stingray waiting list at MSRP. I sold my 2017 C7 GS convertible and purchased a new '23 C8 Z51. Loved my C7, however the C8 is a whole new level.
