The gas gauge stopped working on my 2014 back in the summer of 2019. Turned out to be a sensor in the "B" tank. The onstar app would show me the fuel level but the gauge would not work. It took one week and they had to take damn near the entire back of the car apart. GMEPP sent a rep to the dealer to prove it was the sensor and apparently it was so they approved the work. Total cost was $2200 including a 4 wheel alignment completely paid by GMEPP. Now this summer (2022) it stopped working again only this time it's intermittent. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and always throws a check engine light at the same time. Always shows tank "B" sensor. Dealer says they haven't seen this problem on any other C7. Now I can't use the onstar app to check the gas level anymore because the car is 2G and the app no longer works. I wonder why the onstar app would show the gas level but the gauge won't. In the spring I'll have to have it replaced again.
I've posted about this a few times.
Where does the OnStar app get their gas level from? When my '14 fuel level sensor went south, OnStar kept giving me accurate measurements. Some thought that it just counted down from when it stopped reading.
But it doesn't account for when you fill up, and the app knows. No one has ever answered this.
no issues yet, only had the car for alittle over 2 years now and filled up a hand full of times only. I have used the techron treatment a fuel times as well after researching on here it was a good thing to do.

How much gas do you have in the tank when storing?

Ever use Techron?
Do you use gasoline with Ethanol?
2 schools of thought. Quarter tank and full. I'm of the 3rd school. Whatever it has at the time.
Never had any reason to use the snake oil.
93 octane E0 gas isn't easy to get and even if you do, it isn't always fresh. Besides, we have been using E10 for a long time and I have to believe that the system is designed for ethanol resistance.
No problems. My C7 is a garage queen for sure, but it only sees one brand of gas, Shell 93 octane. Don't know if Shell has the additives similar to Techron but my C5 used Shell and it had no problems with the gas guage.

Yes... Shell is Top Tier and is what GM recommends.
