Ordered Forged Rims for my 2019 Grand Sport and wondering if I should replace the valves. Still have the power train warranty for a couple years and between 11,000 and 12,000 miles to date.Plan on changing tires to new rims also.
Similar position, got a 2017 GS last month, started looking for forged rims in the last few weeks… car came with OEM wheels but with continental tires (prev owner put them on last year). Plan on getting Michelin run flats (had on my 2014 Z51) but will also get new TPMS sensors… figure, going all new and the original sensors are already 6 yrs old. Will keep the old wheels/tires/tpms as winter backups.
Yours are only about 4 yrs old and if you are keeping your tires, I’d prob keep the OEM tpms and just transfer.
By the way, which forged wheels did you go with? Getting my mind adjusted to the cost of these wheels! 🥲
The batteries on the OEM TPMS may be nearing the end of their life cycle.
Along these lines, the original sensors in my 99 C5 were good until this year. I only replaced them because I ditched my runflats ( that were about 20 years old).

Just curious, are your existing wheels cracked or damaged?
People have posted here that a good shop can replace the sensors without removing the tire- deflate and remove the exterior retaining nut, then push in the sidewall enough to access the sensor from inside the tire.
Looks doable but not easy.
We replaced the sensors that had been on our C7 for 5 years/30k miles; when we got new tires, they should have been good for several years more but I didn't want to be replacing them at "Joe's Live Bait, Body Piercing, and Cheap Tire Repairs" while we were on a long road trip.

Had balanced at dealer and Discont Tire and alignment done and all said the wheels are not bent or cracked. Will be selling after checking bare wheels myself. Changing for rotating weight reduction of close to 10 lbs per wheel which is equal to a static weight reduciton of close to 160 lbs and I like the look of the new wheels. .

A good tire tech, yes. A good shop might have someone that isn't as good. These are pretty much rubber bands on wheels so I would be nervous about them doing something like what you suggested as it has some risk of gouging something. Taking the tire half off, sure.

I believe you don't need to worry about the sensors if you want to use them in your new wheels. My 2015 Z06 was built in June 2015, it has about 22K miles on it and the original TPM Sensors are still operating. I have a set of 2014 sensors in my track wheels and they were working when I used the wheels last September.

It isn't that hard to do and most shops have extensive experience replacing sensors without removing the tire from the rim. They have those fancy machines that have a bar that depresses the sidewall so they can change the sensor.
