Thanks for reply. I have 42,500 miles. Torque converter was replaced at 20,000 so fluid was replaced at that time. Even though temp was in the 20's and the car wasn't driven hard the differential pump appeared to run a bit longer than usual after I parked and shut the engine off.
P700 code is a generic transmission code request to light the CEL , There is another code in the TCM, it will be 700 series code , if your code reader does not read it take it to any auto supply , they will read the code . Then post it here
if i had to guess, it's a p0711 code , which is a short in the trans harness temp sended harnesses , there is aTSB . If your trans temp guage is barely going above then the harnesses are your problem
Thanks. I'll check the temp. Hadn't thought of that mainly cause it was mid 20's yesterday but I will now.
Yep had to change mine out , TSB says to change out both harnesses out but the upper required removing the valve body and a bunch of other things . I just replaced the lower which contains the temp sensor. Dealer wanted over $700 to replace . I ended up doing it myself in 2 hours with just the cost of the harness , transfluid and filter Dave
Is it safe to drive my C7 with a P0700 check engine code in manual about 40 miles to a dealer without risking damage?
Thank you
Paul J
