Default General tips for new owner?

Good evening,

just bought my first corvette (2019 1LT). Absolutely love the car.

Curious if there are any important tips to be known for a first time owner like me?

one immediate concern I am having is being taller and how low he car is I feel I am rubbing on the edge of my seat really strongly as I get out mostly. Any tips to avoid messing up my seat?

thanks!

First, run the seat all the way to the rear. To get into the seat face away from the car and put your left hand on the seat back bolster, then guide your butt down so you aren't rubbing it against the bolster. Once your butt is on the seat bottom swivel your legs into the car and run the seat forward to your normal driving position. To get out of the car run the seat all the way to the rear and reverse the entry process to get out. This is how you enter/exit any Corvette made since the 1984 model was introduced.

Depending on when your `19 was built, I would suggest you ask a GM dealer for a GMVIS report to see if the transmission fluid "triple flush" has been done (if your Corvette is an automatic). Many C7's built before Feb. 2019 have experienced a transmission shudder. Changing the transmission fluid cures that. Again, if an automatic, purchase a Range Technology AFM eliminator to keep the car in V8 mode at all times.
The seat positions that Bill talks about (above) can be set to automatically to go back or forward in the memory settings. The Owners Manual has a very good description of how to set a lot of personal comfort and convenience settings.
Eventually, you are going to have questions about tires - summer only or all season - runflat or non-runflat - this is the place to ask those questions and anything else you can think of. Ask away..........

Enjoy your new Corvette!

Congratulations, on your new Vette, you are going to have a lot of fun!

Go easy until you get used to it. There are a lot of horses under that hood that can get you where your going very fast. The ride is smooth so it is easy for you to be going much faster than you think you are! 😎

If you're a visual learner like myself, here is a video explanation on how to get in and out without rubbing against the side bolster.

Congratulations! I also have a 2019. Love the car. One tip, when setting your seat memory to exit, set the seat all the way back THEN SCOOTCH IT FORWARD ABOUT 1 INCH. Then set the memory. For some reason, when these seats are all the back and the exit memory is set, they work when the want to when you enter/exit the car. That fixes that. You can set the car to move the seat and steering wheel up and out of the way to either when you open the door or push the start button. Those setting are in your infotainment screen in settings.

One thing for sure to do - read your owner's manual. The C7 has a lot of features that can be confusing on how they work and what they do. The manual can give you some good information on each feature and if you still have questions, post them up here and members can hopefully assist.

Yes read the manual and try things out. YES it has lots of H P so leave "nanny controls" on till you want to try crazy things.
Armour all your seat to aid in sliding in and out. Smile as you peek at it in the garage and when you walk away from it!
Drive it ---- don't keep it in a cover in the garage!!!

You can read your OM on line which I find easier.

Sometimes I drive my ‘19 1LT on the highway in ECO mode, V4. I like having the option.

I do as well. 34-35 MPG on the highway for a car like this is amazing! Highway is the only time I use ECO.

Congrats on the car. If you peruse the tech section from time to time, you will get a good sense of what to do (mods, maintenance tips) and what not to do (mods that break your Vette). Clearance is an issues in many ways so when parking or maneuvering, take it slow or you will feel the crunch. Car is still easy enough to work on so if you’re a little handy, basic maintenance can be done saving you money and getting it done correctly. This is really a solid, well built car that will usually break the speed limit before it will break you bank. Enjoy it.

Next to your seat next to the door sill is a manual door release lever. If you lose power you can still open the door.

Thank you everyone for all of the information, a ton to digest!

my car is a 7 speed (manual was my only real requirement, have always had one and just feel odd when I drive an automatic. Hopefully not too many issues with these transmissions. My second gear feels a bit rougher than the others so far. Hoping not an issue. It only has 16k so would hope not. Going to test it out a bit this weekend to see of there are any noticeable grinding sounds since it is under full warranty for awhile.

thank you again everyone!

Great tip. Practice grabbing it a few times so you know where it is automatically.
