I have a Check Engine light P0430 which translates to low efficiency catalyst system Bank 2. I read about the CRC "Guaranteed to Pass" Cleaner and was going to try this first. Thoughts?
I attempted to add but the bottle nozzle wasn't long enough to push the valve down to enter the gas tank. Suppose I need a long nose funnel to get passed the valve?
Used Cata-Clean made by Holley on my Jeep. Did this for 3 years just before emission inspection. This year it worked for a week and the CEL came back. Sold the Jeep recently and not my worry anymore.
P0430 is for the Bank 2 sensor 2 so why don't you try this. Change the O2 sensor. After all, the ECM knows the cat isn't functioning as efficiently as it should because the O2 sensor tells it so. IIRC, before the cat gets to temp, the upstream and downstream are pretty constant. After that, the upstream fluctuates up and down while the downstream is relatively constant. At least, that was how it was when I scanned my cars that had an issue. I believe a good cat will have a hotter rear than front temperature.
If the cat is bad, you will have to change it and probably the O2 sensor. Might as well change the O2 sensor and see. I would disconnect the battery or clear the code with a scanner. Change the sensor and reconnect the battery. If that light stays off and all the emissions readiness tests are accepted, the light should stay off. At which time, I would change the other downstream sensor since they are wear items. Actually, I'd probably change all of the O2 sensors since they are wear items.
