"THE WAVE" is Dead
Totally not about getting my panties in a bunch. Was just an interesting observation especially given the number of Corvettes I encountered coming from the car show.
Past life.... Motorcycle - people almost always wave.... Miata's - people wave often.... C3- people wave almost always... C7.. 50/50. But some in my area blink their lights too!
Note.. My local police wave at my C7 almost always!
I also live in the south... Folks are normally friendly by default. Unless they moved from Buffalo or New Jersey.

Both pretty much on. If you must get a return wave to give one, please stop. All you will get is frustrated as more and more people aren't up with those traditions. First off, we have bigger issues going on. Secondly, people are getting less and less caring about old traditions. After all, it's not like there is a secret handshake to belong to the club. I don't recall having to sign such an agreement to buy a Corvette. This is an old tradition handed down. As time goes on, people forget about it. Besides, it's not like by not waving, you lose money.
At least in Phoenix it is. Took my C7 out for a long Sunday drive with the wife last weekend as the weather was perfect. On the drive, I came upon no less than a dozen or so Corvettes over several miles coming down the road in the opposite direction from a local car show. I made it a point to give them a casual wave as they drove by to acknowledge their obvious good choice in cars. There were Corvettes of multiple years with drivers of diverse age groups with windows down, tops down, postcard-perfect day. And to be clear, my wave wasn't like an awkward Forest Gump wave - maybe it should have been. But not one single wave back! I was honestly surprised. I've read about "the wave" here and read posts from people on both sides regarding the practice, so while I wasn't expecting 100% engagement, I was expecting something back. Nope, nada, not one - really not even a look to be honest which was really weird. My over/under on the response rate was way off to say the least HA!
So either I happened upon the only Corvette drivers oblivious to their surroundings and other Corvettes, or some of y'all aren't as friendly as you'd like us to think.
I guess on the bright side, I got a couple of big obnoxious revs from a clapped out 6 cylinder Mustang that passed me going in the opposite direction, so I know I wasn't invisible...

I got a wave and a thumbs up at a stop light in Portland, OR from a Toyota mini van that for some reason thought he could stay with me through the mountains of Oregon. Of course I am sitting in stop and go in Porltand after travelling 200 plus miles with this guy (sort of) and he rolls up beside me and yelled badass car with a thumbs up.
I actually got a little warm and fuzzy feeling, especially since only owning the car less than 24 hours. lol

And yes, I was driving my Corvette!
