Didn't you get to do a comparison of new runflats vs new non-runflats on one of your 'vettes?
Results?
Yes I did! And three people including me and a Discount Tire employee couldn't tell the difference in sound and ride quality. Some folks get new tires and notice how much quieter the tires are, but the deciding factor is the tread depth. Fresh tread, as opposed to worn tread are naturally quieter.
[QUOTE=Dif;1606618964]I had the Original Block-it in my C6 and now using it in my C7.
IMO I noticed it takes the edge off the noise.
I also put a layer of 1/4 inch Blue foam in the C7 under the Block-it which helped slightly more.
Bottom line, its not a cure all.
Only way to reduce the noise dramatically, is with the Crazy Cowboy option, or material/s of the same and DIY.
I have the blockit in my C7 Z51 also. . It reduced the echo chamber in the car quite a bit, but the road noise from being close to the road, transparent roof, and huge tires remains although its quieter. But, its a sportscar not a Buick so I do expect and enjoy the extra noise and stiffness of the ride.
I tried Blockit on my 19 GS coupe and did not find much of a difference in heat insulation or noise. I went with the Crazy Cowboy extra (2 layers) kit and did find a big difference in less interior heat and a degree of noise cancellation. It took me two + days to do the whole interior (
I will never do that again at 73), but it was well worth the effort.
The blockit just takes the edge off. There's not a substantial difference. I wasn't expecting a night and day difference so I'm ok with it. What do you expect from just dropping a Matt in ? The only way in my opinion is to take everything apart insulate and put back together. The Crazy Cowboy option you'd probably get you the best results.
Whatever minimal benefit I got from the Blockit + Lloyds mat has since been completely negated with the installation of headers. The car is just fkn LOUD and it varies greatly with road surface and RPMs. I am on run-flats and I don't have NPP exhaust option, and the previous owner put loud-*** Flowmaster axle-back muffler on it.
I just live with it. I could pull the interior apart to install Dynamat or something like it, but doubtful I will ever find the motivation without a guarantee that it'd make a HUGE difference.
I just installed the BlockKit in my Z06. Whoever says this does not make a difference must already be partially deaf. I almost did not purchase it because of some of the naysayers, but I am so glad I did. It took the edge off just enough. I am very particular about my cars, and this is just enough that I will not need to do any more sound deadening on the Z06.
I feel the same. I have a 19 Z and it just knocks the edge of enough. Nothing drastic, but does work for me
Block it removed the echo chamber effect but not much else. That in itself was a big deal. Also, changing the tires helped.
Any sound reduction is better than nothing at all, so I'm happy with it.
I have the Block it kit and it did cut about 50%. But since it is colder than XXXX here now, I may watch the You Tube video and put two layers of Dynamat and a 6 mil plastic sheet between them. Maybe the Dynamat tape along the edges will improve the sound deadening.
