Most people mount a radar detector under the mirror and use a special tap to access the power behind the mirror:

V1 (second gen) with Blendmount and mirror tap. You can also see my 2 channel Blackvue dashcam. The rear facing cam is there as my C7 is a vert.

Are you in California? I believe it is illegal to put the radar anywhere that partially blocks your view? Is putting underneath the rear mirror okey?

Yes, here is how my Texas inspection goes in San Antonio. Drive up to the local Take Five oil change place (no appointment). Tell them I’m here for inspection and given my low front splitter I don’t even drive in the bay. They have me demo lights, horn, washer fluid and pay my $7. Five minutes later I’m on my way home!

Ah, so your county has no emissions test requirement. Not so in Dallas.

I like mine high against the headliner using a permanent windshield mount. Inexpensive compared to the blendmounts. Out of my visibility and any spectators.

Blendmount is ridiculously priced. Here is a link to the mount and tap for a Uniden that I used for less than $50.

Consider a remote mounted radar detector as an option.

Can’t argue that it’s expensive. However the quality and design are much better than anything I’ve seen. I’ve had them on several vehicles with zero issues.

Which one is this? I’m considering the R9 when it’s available after I see some reviews. The only issue is there is always something better coming out. It’s a lot easier to cough up $600-$800 every couple years VS several K.

This appears to be blocking the brake cooling duct.

The original factory installed grille on my Stingray did not include ventilation in the area of the radar antenna.
