I am in Texas. Just passed my state inspection. Its not a problem here.
Yes, here is how my Texas inspection goes in San Antonio. Drive up to the local Take Five oil change place (no appointment). Tell them I’m here for inspection and given my low front splitter I don’t even drive in the bay. They have me demo lights, horn, washer fluid and pay my $7. Five minutes later I’m on my way home!

Ah, so your county has no emissions test requirement. Not so in Dallas.
thanks. I've been living with the suction cup thing, too on my entry level uniden. the mount costs as much as the detector! LOL but it is a good setup. Previously obtained that power wire hootus, too, yet installed.
I like mine high against the headliner using a permanent windshield mount. Inexpensive compared to the blendmounts. Out of my visibility and any spectators.
Blendmount is ridiculously priced. Here is a link to the mount and tap for a Uniden that I used for less than $50.

Can’t argue that it’s expensive. However the quality and design are much better than anything I’ve seen. I’ve had them on several vehicles with zero issues.
Consider a remote mounted radar detector as an option.
Which one is this? I’m considering the R9 when it’s available after I see some reviews. The only issue is there is always something better coming out. It’s a lot easier to cough up $600-$800 every couple years VS several K.
