Default What Now???

Replaced front left headlight with brand new headlight from dealership …
While front clip was off had it repaired had it repainted and body shop reinstalled it.
Took it for a drive tonight and the left turn signal in the front left didn’t work , neither does the brights on the left side

Left blinker blinking real fast and error message is “Left front turn indicator failure”.

Any clues where to start? Could it be a fuse?

there is only one main plug for front head light and it’s plugged in. Regular lights work just the brights and blinkers don’t . Body shop owner just texted me that sometimes the new headlights in certain cars have to be programmed?

Are you talking about the bulbs or the headlight assembly? I recently replaced both bulbs and re assembled the headlight assembly back in the corvette and had no issues. Good luck!

I replaced the entire $1675 left headlight and only half of it is working. The regular lamp works but the two indicated portions (brights and blinker) do not work

Definitely sounds like a connection issue, perhaps a ground not connected properly.

The rear left blinker is blinking very fast which would confirm your theory but where would the ground be for me to check?

I believe the parts you have circled are the blinker and the daytime running light. My understanding that the low/high beam is the same bulb with some sort of mechanical shutter device to cover part of the bulb during low beam operation. If you are not getting high beam operation then you have three problems.

Hard to know what it might be. Ground, plug issue, debris in the plug. I don't know if the Chevy store has a way to test the light off the car or not.

I too believe its a connection issue. Easy for a wire or pin to be damaged when reconnecting. Unfortunately the bumper has to come off to diagnose. Could be a DOA re: the new headlight. Hard to say.

If you bought a new light assembly, it is very likely that your new light assembly has been sitting on a shelf for more than 4 years. This means some or all of the contact pins on the connector are most probably oxidized and preventing a proper electrical connection. Remove the connector from the light and take a look at both the male and the female sides to make sure none of the pins are bent or distorted, then plug in and out 3-4 times. This would mechanically remove some of the oxidation (not the ideal but can give enough contact if corrosion is the problem). The best would be to chemically remove the oxidation, but not knowing what the contacts are made of exactly, I would not be able to recommend you exactly what to use. You could try electrical contact cleaner spray, but you will have to be careful and make sure the cleaner does not affect the other parts of the light assembly. Try the mechanical solution first and see if anything changes.

Also while you have everything removed, check to see you (or the mechanic) has not inadvertently pulled/pushed out any of the pins on the connectors, and the wires are not damaged. Just to make sure you are covering everything. Hope you find the issue and are able to fix it.

Did you use some dielectric grease on the connectors for a better connection.

I pulled the front clip off and checked the plug ( 8 perfectly straight pins). UnPlugged/ Plugged 3 or 4 times … still doesn’t work.

Anyone have a schematic for the plug and headlight harness?

Are you sure the new headlight assembly is working properly?

Ensure the pins on the new headlight connector are wired correctly. It is hard to believe that it worked until the headlight assembly was replaced and that the problem could be nothing other than the new assembly.

If you still have the front clip off, I'd remove the passenger side headlight and plug it into the driver's side harness. If it works, you know the "new" headlight is bad. If you have the same issue, you know it's a wiring or ground issue.

Conversely, pull the driver's side light, unplug the passenger side light and connect the harness to the driver's side light. See if the problem follows the light.

It sounds to me like the reassemblers screwed up something, if you used OEM replacement parts.

Crazy question, while front end was off I was doing the entire audio upgrade including radio and HMI….. so weird things going on right now
  • brand new headlight doesn’t work
  • Factory Nav is off by 1/4 to a 1/2 mile
  • getting the occasional service rear axle soon
Now when the body shop pulled all codes on the car the only three in there were left door noise canceling, right door noise canceling and NPP exhaust valve(I put the mild-2-wild switch in).

Could this possibly n]be the battery?

^^^
I would start there. Weird electrical things happen when the battery ages.

After checking again you are correct the lights that are not functioning are DRL’s and Blinker.

Many know the pains I have gone thru in the past 6 weeks trying to find a clean Corvette to enjoy in my senior years. Took delivery on first one 4/5 drove a few times and took to Hendrick for a 200 point inspection they found a cracked block. Paid cash for this car so fought with seller to buy vehicle back. Shipped it back to them 3 weeks ago (still paying insurance and waiting for check). So that was like a kick in the nutz.
Purchased a 2nd one(another 2014) on 4/21, got it home put a hundred miles on it before it got backed into and front headlight broken and front clip gouge in fiberglass by headlight. While front clip was getting painted I changed out HMI module , all speakers etc… including new $1675 complete front headlamp assembly.
Body shop installed new front clip got car back excited and ready to cruise BUT NOW…..
  • Front headlight drl and blinker doesn’t work
  • Factory Nav is 1/2 mile off course
I just put cover on car and am tired of worrying about it, I just wanted a car I can start go for a cruise or car show and then come back home and put her back up for the week. I never had these issues with my C4 or C6…… totall
