I can't offer any insight to your issues, however it wouldn't hurt to ask GM for some help. Not likely they will, but worst case is they say no. I say this only because you have had two prior issues and have such low miles. Granted the "time" part of the warranty is long since gone, but a history of issues and it being more of a wear and tear issue, they *might* help. I'd suggest going straight to GM yourself and not have the dealer or local rep do it. I say this because that's what I did when all four of my mag ride shocks failed at the same time. I was out of warranty by 2 weeks but only had about 26k miles on the car. Dealer said "nope", local rep said "nope" and even when I opened a case, at first they said "nope", until I sent a nice email directly to the GM executives. Might have been a coincidence, but either way, dealership reached out to me again within 24 hours of that email, and they covered the replacement/repairs. Plead your case and present the evidence, you never know.
contact Abel Chevrolet in Rio Vista. Family owned and operated. For 85+ years
They are a corvette dealership. some of the best corvette mechanics in the Northbay.
the GM Parts and Service director is a corvette racer and owner.
and knows these cars better than anyone I know.
I use to drive 2 hours to have my cars build there. Now I drive 8 hours to have major work done.
People travel from all over to have work done there
Abel Chevrolet is the only one that I trust with my ZR1 and owners drive from all over the state to have work done to their corvettes.
The current status of my car is that the dealer has opened a case with GM and asked for support. The dealer told me that their top Corvette mechanic said there could be a relationship between injector failure and lifter failure. I am going to contact GM direct and ask for help.
I have looked at certified cars before. They were just too damm expensive. I'm trying to find something I can get a good price on, and that is never a Cert car.
Are you crazy for considering a non cert car? No. I bought 5 used Corvettes over the last 30 years, never a certified car from a dealer.
Get a low mile car, with a background check.
These GM v8’s have known lifter problems. Maybe OPs is related to the injectors, maybe not. Sometimes it just shuts down the engine and you get by with new lifters ( from China of course) and sometimes the valve goes trough a piston and its new engine time. It’s all over the GM SUV forums . My Tahoe could have it. Related to the AFM/DFM. Doesn’t appear to have anything to do with mileage. I will buy an extended warranty for my Tahoe when GM new car warranty ends. Hey OP…what happened?
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
