Default Seat fan

Hi all

2019 2LT

I've checked various forums and did searched for the topic with no luck.
My seat fans for cooling my *** stopped working. I checked both fuse block diagrams and I don't see a specific fuse for the seat fans. Is it combined with something else?
What might cause the fans to not work?

Thanks in advance
Ron

No fuse. It is controlled by a control module that sends a pulse width modulation signal to the seat blower located in the seat back and tells it to get off it's *** and start spinning and cool yer butt. It might toss a dtc of B191A and that might need the special reader that the dealer's use to even see it. If the DTC is set, they say to replace the K29 seat heating control module.

My take is you might need to visit the dealer to get yer butt cooled down by the seat fan.

Wait and see if one of the other craker jack tech guys has any other thoughts.

There is a plug under the seat but I'm not sure you can check it with the seat in the car. Might want to make sure that's plugged in tight. The fact that it worked fine and just stopped for no reason makes me think it's not the plug. There probably was a wiring diagram posted on this site somewhere. I'll go take a look and come back if I find anything.

Here's a good thread. See post #8 for wiring diagrams.

From what I can tell, yes, they both don't work. I am going out to the airport shortly and will check to see and get back to you

Does the passenger side work? If not maybe check fuse F30A (under the hood module) like Bill mentioned in the linked thread.

It doesn't "feel" like either side is working. I tried to do this from the other thread >>
Noticed my drivers seat cooling was not woking. I held down the start button down with foot off the brake so it doesnt crank untill it goes into regular ignition mode. Turned off the HVAC off, crank the fan **** to counterclockwise until it says off on the radio.

Turned on the passenger seat fan, loud and working great. Turned on drivers side, it came on but barely could hear it, obviously not working as it should. I wiggled the cannon plug under the seat, seemed seated well. Should I remove it and reseat it? Any ideas?

And I could not get the fans to come on at all. Either I am doing something wrong with this procedure, but the fans do not come one, the lights don't even come on.

It's F30. Is it 15 amps? I'd pull it and check it with a multi-meter if you have one.

Joe

OK so in my fuse box for F30, it's a 10 amp fuse. Pulled and checked ok. Replaced it and started the car, turned the seat fans off, put my ear to the seat and heard nothing. Turned the fan on and put my ear to the seat, could hear the fan. So I guess it's just really ineffective. The situation yesterday was I parked the car at a marina, in the hot 94º heat, 6 hours later go in started it up, turned everything on and drove home and I never felt any cooling in the seat at all. It didn't used to be like this, I could always feel quite a bit of air from the fan. I can't figure it out

Not sure what to tell you. Maybe next time leave the seat fans off until the car starts to cool down. Then turn them on. I can always feel that cooling sensation when I do this. Maybe your cooling transition on the seat was so slow you didn't feel it. The seat fans rely on the AC air to do the cooling but I'm sure you already knew that.

Hello @RSlater

For reference, my C7 Is a 2017 Stingray 2LT

I too had a similar problem with my seat fan but not sure if it was same as your problem. The passenger seat fan in my C7 was load and working. But the driver seat fan sound was very soft. I could barely hear it.

I removed the driver side seat and found the following:
The seat includes two fans, one in the seat bottom and another fan in the back-rest. The wiring from one of the fans got pulled out of the plug connector. How did that happen? The fan wires that you see in my pic barely reached the connector. I suspect that when the seat back-rest was tilted and folded forward, the wires did not have enough slack and the tilt pulled the wires out of the connector.

Observe in my pic the cooling fan wiring has three conductors. Coincidently, the cooling fan switch has three speeds.

The pic that I posted shows my seat laying on its side.

Oh I forgot to mention in my last post that I tried pushing the start button without starting the engine, and I got the same result as you. So maybe that worked on older year C7's but apparently not on 2019 (mine is also a 2019).

Wow that's great information. Thank you very much. My guess is that is exactly what the problem is.

In my experience, they tend to work terribly. I get a solid initial cooling, then it actually gets hot. Lasts about 2 minutes lol
