Default Window Index Issue ✅SOLUTION‼️

16' C7. Here is the issue....Turn ignition off - open drivers door - window drops 1/8", then without touching anything, in a second or 2, the window goes up (door is open, touching nothing). If I push the door release button, the window drops the 1/8", then goes back up all on it's own. The problem progressed quickly. In addition to the window not indexing, it also started not shutting the stereo off, drivers seat not going back and steering wheel not going up when the ignition was shut off.

I have performed the index per the manual, no help. I did change the battery yesterday thinking this would fix it, but it has not. Any ideas what it can be?

What actually controls the window indexing? There a module in the door or something? No idea what it could be.

Just seen this on another forum, same problem I am having except mine is drivers side -

"I have a 2014 C7 and recently started having a problem with the passenger window. When we open the door the window goes down and inch or so to allow clearance of frame. Sometimes once it is opened, the window returns to the top position and hits the frame when closed. I have tried indexing the windows and this has not helped. One other thing to note is that when the door is open and I press the door open button (the one accessed from the outside) the window goes up and down a few times and then stops. This does not always happen, but on occasion. I am looking for others who have had and solved this problem."

Suspecting the door latch electronics are thinking that the door is closing when it's not.

I don't know how to copy links, but a thread from yesterday seems related

I am starting to think the same, would it be the door latch mechanism on the body or the one in the door you think? Maybe the door open/close button?

It would be the latch mechanism inside the door.
Door switch would not cause these symptoms.

Hope the dealer can figure it out. Please post up what you find out - it would surely help other owners.

Trying one last thing, disconnected the negative battery terminal and will let it sit overnight. Fingers crossed!

Default ✅solution‼️

UPDATE: Finally found a great Indy who quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. It was the door latch mechanism (on the body, not door), replaced it and good to go!!! There were zero in stock anywhere, so the Indy found one on eBay, thought I was going to have to trade it in on a C8

Danny, the owner is fantastic, very knowledgeable, honest and hands on. Was recommended by the E Valley Corveete Club, happy to find this place.

Are you able to provide the part number, or at least a photo of the part? EBay search just shows the mechanisms for inside the door.

Hello Sixgun95,
Please can you provide the part number and photo.
I have the same problem but I leave in Tahiti French Polynesia we don't have any Corvette parts dealer or certified mechanic.
So the shipping or parts is very expensive and I don't want to order the wrong part..
Is that the part on the photo ?

Thank you.

That is the part in your picture. We could not find any in the USA at a parts store or at GM, had to revert to eBay.
Hope this helps, good luck.

Sorry but what's the stationary door latch mechanism have to do with it?
What/how does it connect with the window operation?
