I went to Carlisle also. 28.7 mpg on toll road. 24.6 combined city of Reading (where my daughter lives) and toll road to Carlisle. Plus the fun of fast on ramp checking the 0-75 time. Great gas mileage. Corvettes at Carlisle is a great event
The photo was taken two years ago this coming fall on a short 150 mile round trip. (2014 Z51 M7) The air temperature was about 50 degrees F.
It's hard to quantify the accuracy of the numbers shown. They can't be too far off though, because the ECM must continuously monitor and adjust fuel trims and lambda to maintain the programmed set points for emission controls. Otherwise, engine sensor warnings would be displayed on the screen.

It's actually extraordinarily easy!
My DIC is reliably optimistic, at minimum by 1mpg, but usually 2 or 3. For example, on the road trip home from picking it up the DIC was reading something like 28 or 29, but according to basic math it was a consistent 25.7 mpg.
My VW is the only car I've owned that has had an accurate MPG readout -- and that was only after I calibrated it. Unfortunately I haven't found a way to do that on the c7 yet.

I wonder why. At least, when I pump at Costco, it is within 2 tenths of what the pump says so if mileage is accurate, it SHOULD be a simple calculation for mpg, I would think.
Based on the actual receipts noted below, looks like the DCI is a little optimistic by just 2.2% over 3000 miles. Totally acceptable IMO
I have receipts for (9) fill-ups totaling 110.57 gal. Covering 2941 miles which works out to 26.598 mpg. With an avg price of $5.57 / Gal. across the country September 2022
That compares to my overall avg of 26.0 highway mpg over the first 100,000 miles on the car. I use 7th gear on the interstates, never use ECO mode.
color me a frustrated cost accountant.

One of the most enjoyable parts of thi car is how it can be both wicked fast and also super smooth on the highway.
36 mpg, 50 mile average. Thats my absolute best. Mote recently, we did 320 miles in 9.8 gallons this past weekend on our trip to Mackinaw City.

You nailed it, wicked fast but refined on the highway. I had a C6 which is also wicked fast but hard riding long distances. I know I made the right choice in moving up to the C7
