Just completed a 1490 mile round trip from the UK to the South of France in the C7 with a mix of motorways and rural roads returning an average of 33.4mpg. Super impressed with the fuel economy for a 6.2 V8!
Fuel costs a little more than you guys in the US at the equivalent of $9.78 per gallon... but worth it for the V8 noise and permanent grin.
Sounds like a great trip; must have seen a ton of sights!
How much of a novelty are C7s 'over there'? Are there enough that they're considered somewhat usual, or are they few and far between?
C7's are a very rare site on the road here in the UK and didn't see any in France at all, although I did see a very nice C3 in the Le Mans museum car park! Quite a few C8's over here now, but I think that is down to having the right hand drive option available in the UK. The C7 I own was purchased from a friend that 'upgraded' to a C8 who has openly admitted that he now regrets that decision. He's commented that it's not as exclusive (or as loud) as the C7 and fed up of people with no car knowledge asking about his 'Ferrari'...

Yes, they are very good on gas for what they are but let's get back to gas is a little more. Gas here is Florida is 4 bucks a gallon for super that's top tier fuel can get it cheaper at Costco or Sams club. At almost 10 bucks a gallon that's nuts. I remember when I was stationed in Germany, I thought gas wasn't too bad (price wise). That was until I realized you crazy Europeans do liters and there is almost 4 in a gallon. I guess you get a lot of attention driving a corvette in England can't imagine you see them very often. Here where I live I can't drive 5 miles without passing at least one usually 3 to 4. Hell, my neighbors all have Vettes one has a C8 the other 2 have a C4 a 1965, 1963 SW and 1967 427 TP which he is now body off ground up restoring himself. I have great neighbors.
I'm guessing you're using the imperial gallon in the UK. So that's equivalent to 27.8 mpg in the US. Still impressive.
I had a base C6 that got an average of 25-28 mpg. My C7 Z51 barely gets 21mpg, but it runs perfectly so I hate to mess with it.
I think it is the Z51 gearing that lowers the mpg but who knows. I only use Costco premium gas so it's not the gas.
Yes the mileage is great on a road trip and I get much better mileage with my C7 then my Z-51 C6. The DIC indicated 32.6 mpg on a 500 mile road trip with a tail wind. $9.78 per gallon is high priced for sure.
then on top of that it's the DIC readout so grain of salt, heh. mine is hilariously optimistic.
I did a 800 mile roadtrip in our Jeep Trackhawk. 95% hwy and I was very easy on the throttle cause my wife can get motion sickness. The DIC equivalent said I got 21 mpg. The Trackhawk forum members said not possible. I then calculated myself based on mileage and gas receipts. I got 3 mpg lower. I dont trust the cars system to provide 100% accurate results.
However the C7 does get really awesome mileage given what it is.

I will say this. The fuel used part is definitely reliable. It is within a couple tenths of a gallon based on what it says and what the pump deposits in the tank. Will have to calculate the mpg sometime to see if it is good.
