Hey everyone. I’ve got a 2015 2lt stingray with 16k miles and I noticed this over on the passenger side door next to the door release. I don’t think this is wear from a passenger as it’s an unnatural place to rest an arm, and I rarely have passengers. Maybe it’s from the Texas heat? I’m probably going to get ceramic tinted after the first of the year to help protect the interior in general. Has anyone else had this issue? How is the best way to go about getting this fixed?
As I recall, that is vinyl on a 2LT. I would take it to a recommended automotive Upholstery shop and ask them what they would suggest. Being around a curve, I think it might be something better done by a professional. jmho
That is not cracking, it is pulling out of the seam because the leather (or whatever it is) has shrunk.
I agree with the shrinking part. But it’s definitely cracking. You can see the edge is jagged and uneven. More so than a sloppy cut of the material would be if it was just pulling away from the edge.
With Texas Summer temperatures and dryness, nothing surprises me. It is not normal to have these kind of issues in 2LTs, but I bought an Infiniti QX80 from West Texas that had a destroyed interior from heat.
I was able to source the dash pad and door panels from a local junk yard and the car looked like new again. The seats were not affected.

Cracking from where? In order for something to have a crack in it that would be a separation of parts. There is no orange on the other side of the white part.

from the other piece/ side that is under the black trim. You can see the individual fibers (that white part) along the edge of the crack/split.
It's not just you man... The C5 got same thing goin on... Cheap *** material is a GM thing... Overlook it.. as you'll find more of the same as time goes on. Embrace the affordability of the Corvette and OVERLOOK much.
