2014 Z51 LT3 STICK. I was trying to start my vett but when i push the button nothing would happen. Just got a tic tic noise and a blank screen. But when i shut the driver side door it started just fine. So my question is does the door have to be shut for the push button to engage?

thanks, for the past 6 months its been doing this and i had not idea the door needs to be closed. Even brought it into the shop 3 times claiming sometings wrong! DUH
What? No way. I can't believe they make you shut the door now. I've never noticed if I have to, but I will check now. It makes no sense. I have the same car, but auto. The manual also mentions nothing of this for stick or auto.
I just started mine with the door open and the hood up just to assure myself I wasn't crazy thanks to dlsmith82.
Does it do the same if the passenger door is open?
First, thing most people will ask you is if the battery is old. If the battery isn't near perfect, weird electrical issues pop up.
I would start looking at the battery clamps. They may be loose and when you shut the door, they jar.
I have no other answers.
Open doors have no impact on whether the car should start or not. Mine starts regardless of the door position.
