Battery wire cut





With the battery mounted in the back of the car, you would normally have two wire
sensing back to the regulator. That is done to ensure that you account for the
voltage loss from the current in the wiring.
GM probably figured that tha positive terminal has a heavy gauge all the way to
the engine compartment. Then, they would only need to sense the negative terminal.
It would monitor the actual battery voltage bypassing all the grounding points in the car.
