Default Correct Oil filter but wrong threads

What a mess. I bought the correct oil filter for my vette at Walmart - Mobile 1-113A. The filter's numbers absolutely matched the numbers on the box it came in. No problem or so i thought. Took off the old filter but could not for the life of me get the new one to spin on. Tried the old one and it spin on like a champ. So off i went to an auto store and bought one of theirs. It spun on like the way it should have. All i can say about all this is that on looking down into each filter I noticed the Walmart one did not have an intermittent red color near the threads. A lot of ifs about what happened here.

The 113A is NOT recommended. The bypass spec is to low 15 psi. There are so many that are recommended you don't need Mobil 1. Even the 114A has quality issues. Start watching at 3:20.

Who knows, perhaps a bad batch from Mobil 1, someone else bought the filter, tried it and stripped the threads, etc.

At least you got one that worked.

That filter should have had no issues with the installation

Defective. Just use a PF64. Never had an issue.

Just don't use the 113A or the PF 48E they are the WRONG filter. They have the wrong bypass PSI.

Could have happened if previous buyer tried to install on an engine that required the older 44 / 46 series filter thread pitch!!

Crap happens... with everything. At least your car wasn't built by Boeing and blow a door off.

The K&N HP 1017 bypass starts at 11 psi,,,, way to low. It's the wrong filter.

The K&N SO-1017, or HP-1020 would be 22-28 psi. closer to spec.
At least this is what K&N recommends for the C7

They must have updated their recommendations...they still show the 1017 as suitable for the 2015 though.

There is a difference between the SO-1017 and the HP-1017. The HP-1017 isn't recommended. The HP-1020 and SO-1017 are the recommended K&N filters.
The important part is what Chevrolet recommends. 22PSI.
