Default C7 Shift Cable

Picked up a 2018 C7 A8, fabulous car, but question if anyone has had a problem with the shift cable attachments. I like to slide into neutral at stop lights, and once with my C6 auto the flimsy plastic cable fitting at the shift end, failed. Stranded at the light! Anyway, has anyone experienced this with their C7? Thx!

Have not heard anyone mention this issue on the C7.

I expected the C7 auto cables to suffer the same plastic grommet failures as the C6 but have yet to see reports on the Forum. Perhaps GM specified a more age and temperature resistant plastic??

Why do you shift into neutral at stop lights? Just curious.

Shifting the auto into neutral at every red stop light puts many more stress cycles into the plastic shifter end cable grommets. More likely to split once the grommets get brittle with age and temperature.

saw this problem in a number of posts for the C5 but haven’t run across it for the C7.
