Just saw a set of Morimoto headlights on a C7. They were very nice. I'd like pull the trigger but have read about possible issues with the headlights, specifically if oracle sidelights are installed.
Has anyone recently done an install? The threads I've read have been a bit outdated.
I have oem taillights and oracle side markers currently installed. Hoping issues have been addressed.
When you start messing with the electrical system on the C7, it's a crap shoot. I do know that if you exceed a certain draw on the system, the right side of the C7 shuts down. The combination of the Morimoto headlights and taillights requires an in-line adapter that is inserted at the taillight connection to the harness. The last time i checked, it is available upon request from the Morimoto vendor.

True. So that's a little confusing for me. I know the harness is on the tail light end of things. Would this be true even if you don't have the Morimoto tail lights?
No. You can do one or the other and not need an inline adapter. The number of LED's in the headlights combined with the amount of LED's in the taillights put the draw over the programmed specifications. The effect of the running lights in combination with one of the Morimoto lights isn't something I know enough about to give an opinion.
Over the years I've seen way too many issues reported here with Morimoto electrics to ever chance using their products. I'm sure a lot of people have not had trouble, but why risk it?

I agree 100% with the above. Installed mine and in less than an hour the running lights on the passenger side stopped working. Called Morimoto & they said they would contact their "technical department" & get back with me. That was 10:30 this morning & as of 5:30, I have not heard back from them. The running lights going out was a problem with their Gen 1 headlights & apparently it's still a problem with their Gen 2 even though they assured me it wasn't.
I have both the new headlights and the original taillights with no problem. I have side LED side markers. No issue. Cole did acknowledge there was an issue with their first headlights but this version didn't have that issue. When in doubt contact Cole. He will give u the update.
i like the new headlights.

This picture clearly shows other wise. $1300 for a set of headlights that worked less than one hour is an issue!!!
