I've only owned Cadillac SUVs, a Mustang GT, and a 392 Challenger once. I've always wanted one since I was a kid but don't feel like I know enough about them to make an informed decision. Can anyone provide any insight to what owning one, either or both is like, are there any common issues in specific years? Anything to be wary of with the Automatic Transmissions in either generation? Any insight would help! Thank you so much
I’ve had both. A C6 Grand Sport and a Z51 C7. While I loved the C6 GS, IMO the C7 is hands down a better car. More responsive and nicer interior.

I assume you also asked on the C6 Forum? But, to the point, the C7 was all new and not simply a rehash of the version before. Have I said enough? Enjoy whatever you opt for.

No reason to buy a C6 unless money is an issue.
Unless you want more fun. The C7 doesn't have the awesome engine growl, it doesn't have the powerful feel either. Its just not as fun. Its more civilized. I'm actually leaning towards getting a C6 Z06 to add to the garage. I've never driven one, but its probably just more of the C6 I had. More power, less weight.. That thing should be a blast to drive!

I kind of agree. Not that I would know, as I’m not into any sort of track driving. But I think the C6 felt more like a sports car. A bit more raw feeling. Also seemed to feel a bit smaller and more tossable than the C7. But IMO, not as powerful or comfortable. Or as they say, refined. For me, the C7 trumps the C6 in spades in that department.

So, quick recap of my events this morning. Test drove a 2LT Z51 C7 and a 3LT C6 with the LS3. Since my current daily driver is a '16 Escalade, I can't sacrifice the interior quality and tech. If I still daily drove my '06 Escalade, I wouldn't mind the C6 interior as much, as everything is pretty much the same, heated seats, onboard nav, etc etc.

But me and my wife have gotten WAY too used to the ventilated seats to give them up, especially if this vehicle is going to be driven mostly in the spring and summer. Not to mention carplay, cameras and advanced safety systems.

That's what sold me. The interior and hi-tech. I had the chance to buy a C6 ZR1 with 1500 miles on it. They were very close on price. But the C6 interior is lacking. If I was doing a full effort Corvette build, I would go C6 cause it's lighter. But all other reasons, C7 all day.

Have you tested the ventilated seat function on the C7? I believe there has been some discussion by individuals who question its performance and find it disappointing.

When you first turn on the ventilated C7 seats, it feels like somebody dunked your buns in ice water.
A minute later, you wonder if they are even working.
They just draw cabin-temp air from the floor and blow it up through the seat, so no big deal.
Some people will manually set the A/C to a cool temp and manually set the system to blow that cool air down low, so the seat fans can blow it up through the seats. I'm still unimpressed.

I like the C7, but consider the ventilated seats to be about as non-useful as the mechanical speedometer on the dash.

Loved my C6, a lot of fun but the interior of the 7 compared to the 6 is like going from a Kia to a Mercedes. Especially the 3LT.

👍
Completely ALL new! Read where only one or two old c6 Corvette parts were used.

Frame, the works! Not a "re-run" as the c6 was. The base power nearing the c6 Z06 power!

Yes, the Z51 I test drove had the seats and they worked just as good as my Cadillacs. Only reason I didn't buy that car that day was they wouldn't budge on their $50,000 ask even though all the paint on the hood, trunklid and roof was faded lol.

C7 with ALL the advances made over the C6 [ I have had both] should be the logical choice. whatever you buy ---- drive it and enjoy!!
