I have z06 black satin wheels but I want the look of the shiny black with red stripe, I have contemplated using a clear coat to add some shine but wondering about different items, I see some posters saying the vinyl stripes but I woild also like some protection , am considering these
has anyone had any experience with these or something similar that does not protrude too much and look silly
I am picking up my 2019 Z06 1z on Tuesday and sm pretty much excited , I am 65 and this is my first Vette, I will be looking for a lot of advice going forward so appreciate any help you can shoot my way
I was going to do this also. But ... after talking with some folks who had the glue on the band fail, I decided not to. If the band only comes off partially, it will whip around and bang on the side of the Vette. (BTW, this wasn't the product from Southern Car Parts, but a similar one)
I have no personal experience with either, but hear that Alloy Gator wheel guards are the better product. They install between the rim and tire, instead of sticking on the outside of the rim. So they won't come off. https://alloygator.com/us/product/set-of-4-alloygators/

The wheel bands do look good, but I do agree that if the band comes loose, it could cause some damage. Might want to look into vinyl tape or have a paint pinstriper see what they could do.
I had some similar that extended over the edge of the wheel. When I had a flat, that band was damaged and would have needed replacing. Another was loose and fell off on a drive. I took me an hour or two scrubbing with solvent to get the glue off each wheel. If I did it again I'd go for bands that are on the surface and do not wrap around the edge.
Think about it a moment... consider the mass and momentum of a moving car and what it would take to genuinely protect wheel edges from damage as they hit any solid object. Looks, however, is another issue completely.
