The car has a problem. Take it to a repair shop (dealer) and get it fixed.

thank you so much, Elmer! I really appreciate it.

(Or maybe neutral) Grasping at straws here, but perhaps one of the interconnect switches associated with that are intermittent or not functioning properly.
Thank you so much for your response and suggestions. It is automatic and definitely in park when I try to start it. I will try applying more pressure to the brake pedal as someone just recommended. It is very stiff, but I never seemed to have this issue before, so that’s why it’s so puzzling to me. I really appreciate your help!

When my Z has been sitting for several days between starts, the brake pedal is sometimes stiffer than normal causing the start sequence not to be enabled. It will at times give me a step on the clutch to start DIC message even when I have the clutch to the floor!! Someone recently pointed out that the stiffer brake pedal is due to brake booster vacuum having bled off over those days being parked. So more foot force on the stiff brake petal to engage the brake position switch to enable the ECM start logic.

The key fob may need a new battery also.

I did get a new key FOB battery just to be sure right before getting the new car battery. Thank you for mentioning this, as I have read that can also be the problem.

Like someone else mentioned, make sure to depress your brake pedal hard enough. I thought my key fob battery was going bad and realized I needed to depress the brake pedal just a little bit further.

Since you just had the battery replaced I suspect that they did not fully seat the cables and all the associated hardware on the fuse plate.

ie: bad intermittent connection.

Also did they break the small black wire on the battery cable?

Take it back to the dealership and have them look at it again.

Default Thank you! Pressing the break pedal harder works!

Thank you again to everyone who took the time to respond and provide insight. I have tried what some of you suggested and made the conscious effort to press harder on the break pedal when starting the car, and sure enough, it starts on the first try!!! Between replacing the battery and pressing harder on the break…..I don’t want to jinx anything….but, thank you!! I suppose the pedal was stiff since the car only had a few thousand miles on it. It seems a lot different now when I break while driving too. I guess that gives true meaning to the phrase “breaking it in.” lol. Such a relief!!

I have owned my 2014 C7 Z51 Stingray for less than 2 years. I purchased it in 2022 and it only had 2,500 miles on it. I keep it on a battery tender over the winter when it cannot be driven. In March I took it out of storage and took it to a local Corvette guy who is reputable and services only Corvettes. He changed my oil and got it ready to go for Spring driving. Within the past month I have noticed that if I don’t have it on the battery tender for a week, I can’t start the car. I now have approximately 6,000 total miles on the car. It will make click click click click sounds and some of the electronics will work but not all. I can’t roll the windows down, I can’t start the car. The power is drained and the lights will barely stay on and they flicker out when I try to start it. Last week I took it to a dealership and they claim to have tested the battery and said it was fine but I was not a witness for the test and I have no report. I have asked them to send it to me. Yesterday I tried to start it after one day of not driving it and I couldn’t start it at all. I put it on the battery tender. After a few hours I took it to fill it with gas and got stranded at the gas station. I was able to get it to start after a jump from my husband’s truck. Even though I was told by a dealership the battery is fine, I don’t think it is. I am new to corvettes but this doesn’t seem right at all. I have been researching batteries and battery tenders on this forum. It doesn’t seem normal to have to keep it on the tender constantly, after one day of not driving. I don’t know the age of the battery and no one can seem to tell me when I ask. Can someone please tell me if this has happened to you? Thank you!

we are having all of these same issues with our 2015 stingray. We have had it one year and have had it in the shop 3 times with no solutions. We’ve put in a new battery, bought new key fobs and changed the batteries in those twice. We have also been out driving it 2-3 hours and we have lost acceleration twice. Nobody can find the issue. We are getting really frustrated that we can’t trust it to drive it anywhere. We’ve been told that the acceleration issue COULD be a bad solenoid but they told us to drive it until it does it again. Right! And we did try pushing the break pedal in harder as nothing.

I know this may be a stupid question but have you taken it to a Corvette specialist? I have found - just in my personal experience - that specialists seem to be much more knowledgeable and helpful than other repair shops and especially dealerships. I am not using this a blanket statement for all - this has just been my experience. I found my guy through complete luck and a referral from a former dealership owner who flat out told me don’t take it anywhere else because there are so many out there who don’t know enough about Corvettes and can actually make things worse.
I am so sorry for what you are experiencing after only one year of ownership. It sounds like a nightmare!! If you happen to live in or near Ohio, I know a great guy who may be able to help you.
