Most metal filings show up during break-in miles. I am in favor of getting those out early, somewhere around 10k miles. Plus, my differential fluid was 1 quart low from the factory.
Keep in mind that the plug torque specs are inch pounds not foot pounds. So, they are not super tight. I don’t remember the exact specs, but you should know that the fluid is not held under high pressure. Just tight enough not to leak. Stinky job, but easy enough even for my Z51 which will help the differential last a long while.

To be clear, the exact post I was responding to said the spec is inch pounds. That is not how GM publishes the spec. It is published in lb ft
Generally, the in-lb specs that GM publishes are <100. Trying to think of any I've seen more than that. Maybe something at 110 but most are in the 80s or well below for some of the interior fasteners.
90k way to many miles of metal contaminated fluid. GM should recommend change after second engine oil change IMO.
Agreed, and it would really help if GM actually filled them properly in the first place. My C7 was the 250'th one to come off the assembly line, and very likely had this problem unaddressed until I got the car at 75k.

I was quoted $700 to do the rear and transmission.
If it was only $120, they would have done it.
Bought a new low profile Jack, Redline D4 AFT, 3qts GM gear oil.
Total was $300.
Next project is Dry Sump oil change. (Over $200 at the dealer)

Just had my 2017 done yesterday at my dealership. It was a quart low and pretty burnt. 34,000 miles. Obviously underfilled from the factory...
