Why not? Your car is 10 years old so out of warranty. AFAIK, they have to have parts for the warranty period they offer. If that is true and it is out of warranty, they are not obligated to supply parts for that vehicle any longer. So if you have an unpopular color or that is a "one off" year, they might not have the part anymore.
Question. If you got a cancer diagnosis that was serious, wouldn't you want a 2nd opinion if it was possible? So lets try this another way. Find a busy dealership and ask them. Who was that dealer that was the biggest Corvette dealer in the country? Ask their parts department. For all you know, it might be discontinued AND you can get a lead on a NOS part.
