He still had a lien. He has since paid it off and the bank has been notified of the lien release and now we wait on the title to come from the state. I'm in Texas and the banks no longer hold the title. The lien is recorded when it's registered and the title goes in the trash. Once the lien is released by the lending institution, the state is notified and they send a new title to the registered owner.
