I am reaching out for advise/help: I purchased my 2017 3LT in Feb from a dealer in Richmond VA. 22K miles. About 3 weeks ago, almost overnight, the dash starts coming apart in multiple locations, so I got on the Forum, talked with Corvette folks, and came to learn about delamination. Seems it's an issue GM has known about almost from the get-go in this 3LT trim. I've done some gluing as others have done, and it's helped, but it needs more definitive fixing.
It appears that some have had success with dealers repairing their cars, others having to go directly to GM, some with success.
I called the dealer and, after multiple attempts, got a Service Manager. When I told him what was happening, he said he had never seen this happen before and actually had never heard of this problem. He insisted he has been in his position for a long time with many years of experience. He then said the dealership and GM will not help and all expense is my own. This dealership is one of a very large network of dealerships based in Charlotte, NC with stores all over the southeast. They sell a lot of Corvettes. So, I knew the dealership route was not looking good.
So, I would like to see if there are owners who have gone to GM directly and have had success. If so, how did you contact the company? Whom did you contact and how?
Any help I could get would be very much appreciated!
Many thanks---Pete

GM should be embarrassed with this problem. They charged a lot of money for a 3LT package, the leather delaminates, and they can’t seem to get it fixed.
Sorry you are having this problem and if I had to make a guess, you most likely are not going to get any help from a dealer or GM, but I sincerely hope I am wrong on that.
Try pleading your case with Mary Barra - GM CEO. Sure can’t hurt.
Many folks have had this problem. They seem to deal with it in one of five ways:
1) Just live with it
2) Do some glue work
3) Have the entire dash redone (or repaired) by an upholstry shop
4) Re-upholster it themself!
5) Try to get GM to do something, which almost never works
Best of luck. It sucks that for those who thought they were getting the top of the line C7 and GM's finest product, they were not really getting that at all.
I doubt GM will do anything since your out of warranty but it wouldnt hurt to ask. Mine was replaced 7 years ago under warranty and has been perfect since.
As someone that had their 3LT dash replaced three times under warranty, I feel your pain, but since the car is 7 years old, they will not do anything. As a matter of fact the dealer informed me that the last dash that they installed that GM denied the claim even though the failure was one week shy of a year.
GM will NEVER issue a bulletin on this issue, in the same manner they never issued a bulletin on the Z51 wheels-cost. I know that GM has issued 8 revisions on the C7 3LT dash. The vendor has consistently failed to produce a permanent fix. If GM issues a service bulletin, that would automatically make GM responsible for all of the failed dashes on the 3LTs. My 4th dash has delaminated, and it does so, not because of the heat, it is because of the cold as the leather shrinks at lower temps.
You had 3 failures of the dash. What conditioner were you using on the leather? I have a 3LT and live in Colorado, we get down to 0* in the winter and 100* in the summer, at times, crossing my fingers.
None, according to GM, you should not use any conditioner. It was not in a garage until the last dash was installed and it failed just as fast as the ones that were out in the elements. The problem is the temperture, not the UV exposure.
Anybody (including dealers) who has been around Corvettes since the leather dash has been offered has seen this or heard about it. We have two members in our club right now dealing with it. I personally have seen C6,C7 and C8s with the dash delamination. For a large dealer to say they have never heard of it is ridiculous. Plain and simple they don't want to deal with it. GM should fix every one of them, but they won't. By the way I understand other brands have had their own issues with leather dash delaminations.

,,,,,, When they replaced the dash, did they replace it with a totally new dash or just fix the original dash? I am trying to get my head around why you had 3 go bad in such a short period of time. I am not sure of the % of dashes that delaminate but it isn't 100%. Geeeeez!
They replaced all three with totally new dashes. The original one failed right before the 36 month factory warranty expired, even though it was a GM certified used car with about 20K miles at the time, the dealer told me that the certified used car warranty would not cover the dash, so they replaced it. The second one failed 18 months later, the dealer said they would cover it, but I later found out GM did it out of policy, but I was under the assumption that all GM Parts are covered under a 24 month warranty. The third one, with the staples holding down the leather, failed after 51 weeks, and they replaced it, but GM denied the warranty. That one is on the car and it started to shrink and bubble exactly a year later. I know that they will not replace this one for free.. 2016 Stingray 3LT in Corvette Racing Yellow, current mileage 47K.
