How can you tell the build date of your car based upon the VJN? The Vin decoder on this forum does not go into that much detail.

 

I don't remember who I spoke to, but there's a person at the Corvette Museum that was able to access that information. You can also order window stickers and build sheets.

 

Check the driver's side door jamb. Mine states month and year build date (2019).

You can't get the build sheets from the museum, those are a glorified options list. If the original build sheets are not with the car from new from the assembly line they are lost forever. These are what the actual build sheets look like:

 

That's a generic build date. You can get the actual date the car rolled of the floor from the GMVIS report from the dealer. It looks like this and I will not bore you with the long list but I will show you the end of my report to show you the date the car actually rolled off the line.

Just go to your local dealer with the VIN and ask them to run a VIS report. It will show you the actual build date.

 

I sent an email and my VIN to vehicleinvoice@gmmediaarchive.com. Ask for the build sheet.

 

Sorry to inform you but it's not gonna happen. Notice in the picture I posted there is tape on the build sheets, that's because that's whats actually on the car going down the assembly line. They take THOSE off the car when the car comes off the line and put them in the rear hatch or the front seat. Hopefully they make it to the dealer with the car upon delivery.. I never heard of GM making copies of them for redistribution.

 

So does anyone have a picture of the build sheet used on the production line? It seems that few of us are lucky enough to actually get theirs.

 

Is this a Abbott and Costello routine? What do you think I am saying and posted a picture of in post #5. I am posting all this info from fact, because I have mine.

If you want a actual visual here is just one build sheet on a car coming down the line, there are several.

Are you talking about the GMVIS report which is this: If you are you are dead wrong as this is not a build sheet! If your talking about this from the dealer how does this IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM equate to the actual build sheets that I put up in post #5. The info in the actual build sheets has nothing to do with what the dealer is going to give you.

 

Upon closer view of one of the build sheets on the car where is the info from the dealer for almost 85% of the stuff in this picture? Nowhere!
